There's no way to get it back if you accidentally cancelled the quest in the map menu. However, you may not be able to get the same exact quest location, but you can a certainly get a similar quest at another location by talking to the trader again.

My tip for beginners is very simple. Play the game and learn the basics. Just accept the fact that you will die a lot during this learning process and it's very common. Even us vets had to endure the same learning experience at some point and time, and some of us still do.

Don't fall into a repetitive state where you're doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Learn from your previous mistakes that caused you to die and then find ways to change it up. Try different weapons, different approaches to scenarios, etc until you find what works best for YOU. Everyone is different.

Start looking at the attribute and attribute skill trees. Read the descriptions, and try to find a set of abilities that match your play style. Abilities that help you do what are doing already (or trying to do).

Also look at which weapons are tied to which attributes. If you really really like certain weapons, then that might be the attribute & skilltree to focus on early. You can branch out to a 2nd (or more) skill tree later on, but it's best to focus most of your points into one at first.

When you level up the attribute and the weapon skills associated with it, you will do far far more damage with every hit or shot. And the bonus headshot damage is super nice. It's still okay to throw a few points into other skilltrees as you rise in level. There are certain cheap 1 pt skills that useful for any build. Lowered tool stamina usage, living off the land for more crops when harvesting, etc.

you can type
givequest questID
in the console(F1) to get back quests.
For example, if you cancelled the first tutorial quest you'd type this to get it back:
givequest quest_BasicSurvival1

You can find questIDs in data/configs/quests.xml
