Edit: Just checked. You can turn down the slider for ambient sound volume in the audio settings.

That's the thing. The sounds are intertwined. Grow up Fun Pimps. The game is not that scary to begin with. Your lame ass sounds don't make it any more frightening.
Those sounds are indeed incredibly annoying.
They get old on day one and I can't believe they still haven't added a way to shut them off. I don't want any music and I don't want those musical "stings" coming from nowhere. If there was an in game source for the sound, then sure, but there isn't so I don't want to hear magical music.
Seems they sacked the sound engineer long ago.
