What's the point in crafting a workbench?
Is it really allowing you to build only the same things you can build using your Tab key?
I mean, what's the point of having it, then?

The workbench allows you to craft items without taking up your own crafting queue so that you can focus on doing other crafting tasks. Think about larger base builds that require hundreds, if not thousands of cobblestone or cement mix, or hundreds of replacement wood spikes for your base. Let the workbench take care of that for you while you do stuff like crafting weapons or armor, making repairs, or scrapping stuff.

It lets you do stuff simultaneously. Say.. building lots of whatever, and at the same time, do stuff in your backpack. Great for grinding skill stuff... like make/delete for clothing or axes, etc.

Now, I'll say this.... it is debateable whether it's worth 10 points. Now that I know what it does... I think I'd rather have spent the 10 points on something else, BUT it is kinda a cool thing.

Rather than just having another crafting queue, it does the same thing, right?
I mean, 10 points is alot, and I could've wasted them in a better way, not to mention
that I was searching for springs or wrench for 4 days just to build this thing.
Wish they could add a description to it BEFORE you unlock it or at least craft it.
I'm not so into the whole base building thing, I've bulked up in an old medical center,
slowly upgrading it into fortress, day by day, took me almost 2 weeks (in game time)
to turn this place into a really good defence point and I didn't even use that workbench.
I guess, if you're having some issues with wtf you want to place first, or want to craft
two or more things at the same time, it can be useful, but your teammate can do that.
In my case, I was playing alone in a singleplayer and I did preety good job without it.

Good to hear that ... didnt check all new items yet. We looted a few gasstations and got over 2000 gascans. craftting them into Gas Barrels takes over 30minutes and the process will block our crafting.

i spend my nights crafting/grinding early on, i can do 1000 gunpowder in my backpack earning good xp, i can do another 1000 in the workstation and as long as i keep it open i get the same amount of xp from that too, so its double output and double xp

or if i'm in a hurry for the gunpowder i can put half in the workstation and halve the crafting time

or i can craft 2 different things at once

very handy things imo.

I like that they added them as it makes it much easier & faster to break items down, craft, and it saves time.

If you build the way a true builder should build in this gmae, then the workbench is your best friend. That, and other player's crafting queues...

Just making sure, I know oohbetty said this, but watching stuff craft in the workbench gives xp right?
I can't keep Q'ing and if I'm going to sit somewhere putting them into a chest, I'd rather watch the workbench while doing something else

If you have ever have a crafting que that lasts 30 mins to an hour you would not question it.

If thats directed at me, I really don't mind the wait times, I'm always doing something, always improving, always digging out something
Although the last third of the crafting levels are a pain, and I'd rather be afk while it crafts

Sure, if you want a super-base by Day 12. Otherwise this is the opposite of survival, like many of the other changes since A12. Probably aimed at the console crowd...

Cuz theres nothong better than coming home to find 1000 concrete buckets, 1000 gunpowder and 1000 steel crossbow bolts and 1000 buckshot already crafted up while you repair all your own weapons/tools quickly and w/o waiting 4ever.

Put in massive amounts of materials and walk away, clean streamlined inventory for looting or mats for a long exploring trip. All the bulk work is being done at home.

Seriously its a God send to anything you want mass produced and NOT filing up your personal inventory. I had 1 in SP and it was amazing !!!

Now were at day 90 in MP and not reallyyyyyyy in need of it as skill points are gong to each persons individual skills. With a few ppl to share the workload in MP its not as helpful but in SP its a " must have " piece of equipment : )
