I also don't have a small engine yet.
Just a stupid change IMNSHO.
I agree that requiring a cement mixer is a little over the top.
Concrete can be mixed by hand (definately not recommended in real life!).
Both should be doable in game.
By hand should be slow, using a Mixer should dramatically speed up the process.
Sure, i could take apart a car with a knife and allot of time, but the game makes me use a wrench or other suitable tool. I accept that.
I haven't started a RWG world yet I'm on Navs. Are lake beds and shores common now in RWG because I only found like two lakes in 3 months time in 8 different RWG worlds in A13.
If you build big bases you will want to find a desert. Sure you can make everything without finding a desert. Just grind stone down to sand. But then I've got to farm 3x the amount of stone and if you didn't notice we aren't getting as much now as we did in A13. So I'd say finding a desert will be pretty high on my to do list.
Need stone for - melting in forge for cement dust
Need stone for - mixing with sand for gravel
Need stone for - mixing with sand and gravel for cement mix
Stone collection is fine as it is now. Once you start increasing your mining skill and getting better qualities picks, stone collection gets absurdly easy.
Disassembling a car with a knife would be impossible.
Mixing concrete without a cement mixer is not impossible.
Concrete components wouldn't change whether you use a premix or mix the components yourself.
You still don't need a cement mixer to mix concrete.
I assure you that concrete can be mixed in a bucket or on a flat piece of plywood in small quantities if needed.
If we're claiming realizm then the only real advantage that a mixer provides is mixing slightly greater quantities than mixing by hand (using one similiar to the one illustrated in the game).
The other benefit is that a mixer will keep a mix from setting for a little bit longer while it's running.
