Get rid of HEATSTROKE
Heatstroke is an unfair, unmanageable mechanic that does not improve the gameplay experience at all. It seems to be constantly increasing no matter I do, red tea barely has an impact on it, and it constantly saps hydration and stamina. This game is hard enough already, don't say it isn't, it's HARD. Just remove the mechanic altogether, please.

Make sure to check your clothing, if you don't have the proper gear equipped you will die

Heatstroke isn't a problem.

Not many clothing options in the desert, until you get iron armor you have to be pretty much naked.

Just make sure to equip or craft anything with negative insulation such as a straw hat and bandana and remove anything with positive insulation.

Yucca is quick and easy drink to make in the desert, no need to brew tea.

The game is easy
There I said it.

Heatstroke? You have to adapt. Keep your insulation as low as possible. I usually just run through the desert in nothing but a hat while chugging gallons of yucca juice. Hopefully they add more appropriate clothing soon.

Ok, this is one of the situations that make me think my game is buggy? With a hat, and bandana, I can still wear a few pieces of cloth/fiber gear and have no heat problems.

Find glasses!

It's not unmanageable. Just have to learn how the clothes work/what clothes to wear in what biome. And to take shelter occasionally (indoors in hot biomes = cooling down effect over time).

I do think it's a bit overboard, vanilla game, but once knowledge is had, it's not that difficult to manage. Main PITA is having to take up backpack space with a few items of change-clothing, if traveling a lot.

Make a fiber hat right away.
Make a bandana when you can.

Iron armor when you can.

Don't wear padded coats/dusters/flannel etc. in hot biomes.

::AND/OR::

Leave the hot biome for a cooler one, once you can.

I have made a Base in the desert and never had a problem with heat stroke as I solved the problem by building an indoor pool as soon as you start getting to hot jump in the pool for a couple of minutes temperature comes right back down

You could just travel to the north, which will get cooler.

Everyone is talking about the desert, but what if he lives into the burnt biome?
There is no Yucca juice over there... so most of the comments dont' fit.

@OP: you should find higher ground too; as a general rule the higher you go (altitude) the cooler you are, so different people with same outfit experience different temperatures, nobody seems to take into account that lol

I've never died from heatstroke nor hypothermia. Seriously... Stop trying to make this game "carebear" friendly
blueboltalchemist Mar 17, 2016 @ 2:33am
All biomes are manageable...... Eventually. Let's be honest though, guys. When you first start a new game, the temperature mechanic can be pretty unforgiving. Yucca plants solve the problem in the desert, but starting a new game and spawning in a burnt forest of winter snow biome pretty much gaurantees a death. The current build of the game, biomes are far too large to just "get out of." On that same note, starting a new game and have it be raining right off the bat. That's some BS as well.

I live in the desert in my current game. While I will not say it's a perfect system (yet), it is easily survivable if you take the time to learn how the system works. Which is a sound plan as it is here to stay and will see some balancing but the fundamentals will not change.

TL;DR

You'll get over it and used to it. As mentioned Yucca is your best friend in the desert and you should have a house or two to loot for clothes. In the snow, run around and find all the tree stumps you can find and loot them, they are full of good clothes usually :)
But yeah, sometimes RWG can be very unforgiving when starting if those resources ain't there to find quickly.. It's a lot of luck too.
If you're playing single player, get Valmod. It's great, you get starter gear! Also check out Compopack! :) :)
