NP. Zed reach was fixed a couple of major builds ago. This was done alongside network enhancements to improve the perceived reach due to latency.

Since at least Alpha 19 the numbers have been pretty similar to this where zed reach is a good bit shorter than a players.

Their reach doesn't bother me personally. What bothers me is that zed strikes and zed strike animations are not mutually inclusive. Sometimes a zed will swing at me and I'll stagger it, cancelling the swing animation. The swing still connects and I take damage but the attack animation didn't happen and by all accounts should have cancelled. I don't know if this is a vanilla feature or part of Ravenhearst but it has led to many swearing fits with a knife build.
Zombie reach is much less than the reach of the player. With one notable exception - online play on a server with low ping to you can make those ranges go out the window.

so what I am hearing is we need a long armed zombie (maybe just long claws) that go to 3 just to liven things up

make them poison claws though to make him/her more scary and special

Sometimes they seem like they have more reach because they do attacks where they kind of lurch forward on the swing and it makes the range seems farther than it is.

It's because often times their attacks still "count" even if you move out of the target range. I've noticed since about 19 they reach you even farther when your back is turned. Like the player hitbox is 1-2 meters sticking out behind them. (this was tested in multiplayer, so yea other players can watch it happening to you)

Also in this last one, they can hit you while laying flat on the ground...And we have much less stamina that previous updates. And can't throw spears anymore, so those are entirely useless. Oh! and they can attack you while being knocked back even though their animation does not show their arms moving at you...Great right..? :steamfacepalm:

Yes, I've seen attacks land that don't make sense. I should have brought that up myself. They definitely hit the player sometimes when they shouldn't be able to.
I was hit by one of those attacks when I was playing yesterday. There was definitely no arm swinging animation and I still got hit.

I use a mod that lowers there reach. it is really bad on servers for players since they seem to have even more reach there

Its the view distance, bring it down some, and your reach will feel more natural. Notice how the max view distance almost makes your vision like a tunnel? Look down to the left or right, you'll see what I mean.
