As much as I agree with you but I get what The Fun Pimps are doing. For a lot of players, you would want your favourite streamer to show case, in full, what the game has to offer. That will get people hyped enough to jump on and start playing. Besides, I've waited more than a year so I think I can wait a little bit more, I'm not too worried tbh.

When they release a new Alpha, they normally do a streamer weekend, starting in the evening on Friday through Sunday. I don't remember it being a whole week before with A20. It might have been delayed another day, definitely remember playing it on Tuesday after the weekend.

Its fine. Just now instead of game journalists getting an early release, its content creators.

Every year it's the same... I won't have this discussion all over again, sorry! :DeadSmile1:

unless you can point out some language in the steam alpha jargon that disallows this, I'd say it's more than "fair".

In fact, perhaps even... intelligent. I think you can understand why they are doing this and are just a little upset you wouldnt get it first.

Be honest, you get it. You just dont like it.

I also dont understand how it spoiled it for you. Is someone at your home holding your hostage with your eyes pried open ala Clockwork Orange forcing you to watch early streams? I thought not. I havent watch twitch in ages anyway, it's a hive of pseudo prostitution these days anyhow. Just wait for the game dude its no big deal.

Self control.

Moderator note. Keep the discussion civil. These threads have a tendency to get shut down because you do not.

On-topic, what exactly makes it unfair?
Like is it unfair that a game is revealed at a conference with video showing gameplay, but you still can't buy it for another year or two because of production delays?

This is even less offensive than that. Streamers get access less than three days before everyone else. The purpose is to build excitement for the release of experimental.

And let's be clear here. It isn't even a stable build. It's a buggy experimental build.

well we are paying customers just like them I think they would get more hype letting the players who play every day try it at the same time, no one wants to watch select streamers play it they can stream it day one like everyone else when they get it?

I am a streamer myself and I would want to play the same day as everyone so I could enjoy it with my community not make some Hype they think is happening. but in retrospect pissing off the fans that waited over a year

we waited and played this alpha for a long time and waiting for another week or month is fine with me even if others gets to play it first .... same reason i will never take time off from work to play a release, my joy from the game is the same nomatter when i play it.
Na, it's fine. I doubt I will watch any of it but don't mind that some folks will get it 5 days before me.

It's really hard to be nice about this. I think the only thing I can really say here is "Wow, your sense of entitlement is overinflated." What's another few days or so mean in this case? Nothing at all. If I had my way, anyone who complained about the streamers getting to play a little early would get to play it a few days after everyone else just to rub salt in the scrape. Poke a hole in that ego while you're only dealing with inconsequential laughter, it definitely doesn't do you any favors.

I think if you paid for the game you get it the same day.
the hype will be just the same for the players if they get there hands on it day 1.
Yes, totall fair, its called Marketing.

No reason to be salty or entitled about.

Meh.

I mean if for some reason streamers getting access early meant my access was delayed then I would care (but not much even then), but I don't think that is the case.

I'm also not sure how anybody else playing the game spoils it for the rest of us. If you think they are going to spoil something, just don't watch them.

Without a streamer weekend, everyone would get it on the monday that the release is already planned for. TFP wouldn't release it to everyone on friday because that would mean the entire team would have to work all weekend fixing bugs that come up. Their first patch is usually just a couple days after exp release.

Streamer weekend just gives those who like to watch a sneak peak, gives TFP free advertising, and gives the streamers some hype for their channels.

Having streamers who don't normally play participate in streamer weekend is even better for TFP. That means that their entire audience gets exposed to 7dtd when many or most of them don't own it.

Their application process is also entirely fair. Anyone who get at least 5k subscribers and does a promo video is accepted if they apply, if i remember correctly. No playing favorites.

The community will even help you. I believe it was vedui who was close but didn't have enough subscribers for i believe the a19 exp and the deadline was close. He mentioned it on the main forums, and enough forum regulars (including me) subscribed to push him over the edge.

It also has never been a week. It has always been Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with release to everyone on Monday.

Plus streamer weekend is a ton of fun. It is a party-like atmosphere with your favorite streamer and occasional drop ins by TFP staff with tons of people chatting and having fun.

I personally will be hanging with Jawoodle watching him make a fool of himself and having a blast.

Per the EA agreement that you agreed to prior to making your purchase, you are not entitled to anything. Might want to take a refresher.

It's not an issue for me. If that makes me an idiot in your eyes you know what, I'm ok with that.
