I wish. They're so slow.

I got to play abit of alpha21 and yep your right, doesn't go any faster when raining lol implement it devs!

If you break it down to move it, do you get your filter back?

I doubt it, I placed my within land claim area and there is not option to pick it up like other workstations. So my guess is wrench it if you need to move to get something back but highly doubt you'd get the filter.

Making filters should be a thing: Sand, cloth, and (char)coal would do (it works IRL). Maybe a more advanced one using (zeodolite) a large amount of stone.
A crafted (polished) sheet of glass and silver to make a solar boiler.
Iodine, bleach, too many easy ways to collect and purify water.
Heck, Iranians have been making ice in the desert at least a thousand years in yakchals. Cisterns and evaporation beds are stone age level tech. Too easy....

This water collector is the most weird I see in a survival game...
Yeah, it's pretty unimmersive.

And it actually isn't even needed as i can still just fill my stomach from a dirty puddle as long as i have at least one goldenrod tea left to cure any dysentery if it happens (it didn't while i played on monday and i drank a lot of dirty water).
Water survival is still a joke in this game. I still find a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of dirty water everywhere and just need to cook it first.
Finding my first pot was absurdly hard though. I can't remember the POIs with guaranteed ones and random loot didn't gave me one (might have been very bad luck though - so not neccessarily a bug). I stumbled upon one of that handplaced pots in a trailer on day three.

I have nothing to base this on but I have to believe the dew collector will eventually collect water when they rework the weather system, which they are supposedly doing for A22.

How hard would it be to have it fill when raining? pretty sure thats easy to do.

Oh I forgot I control the weather by sitting at my base for a bit makes it rain all the time.

I don't think it's fair to assume that it is easy though. Maybe it's not.

This is kind of what I was talking about with the weather changes. We don't know what they have planned for the weather system or what they are working on, or what they may come up with in the future. I would think they would need to work on the weather before they start worrying about HOW that weather affects certain items.

The idea behind them is to supply players with fresh water, which is harder to get and is supposed to be a rare commodity in the current version of the game.

In other words, if they filled up from rain and snow in a few minutes, it would be out of balance, since it is supposed to be ultra hard to get drinkable water now.

If they didnt and this were all just a "we wait for the future when weather systems are included properly", then they could have balanced it to give water faster now, and nerfed it when weather system would be changed.

But this feels like its set in stone and is not likely to change. Welcome to the new difficulty :)

Hold down E and you'll get the option to pick it up. Make sure it's empty of jars first.

In the military it only rains if we go out to train.
