Lunar Cycles?
For like Alpha 22 could we get like lunar cycles where the night will be the brightest on a full moon and near pitch black on a new moon? Since TFP are starting to take a sort of realism approach, this would seem like a good addition and would further the realism, because currently you can wander outside at night and see nearly everything. Like with this update there could be nights where you can go out and scavenge and there are nights where you can do base work bc it's too dark to venture out.

let me know your opinions in the comments and let me know if this is the wrong sub forum.

Yeah, I like the idea of having different moons. I imagine they could kind of code this in like they do with weather events... except make it dependent upon what day it is in the game. So, like they do with BloodMoon being every 7th day (or whatever you set it for) they could have different moons--Full, 3/4, 1/2, 1/4, none--and have a brightness setting variable for each. Doesn't 'seem' like it would be that difficult. Could just have an exception clause that determines if it's supposed to be a BM or not... if not, do whatever moon should be happening based on day number. Not sure how they'd do the day number equation though. A reference table maybe?

I see your point, but I'm not a fan of trying to play games I can't play because I can't see. I know some people like that, but it's not for me.

Perhaps in combination with more effective mobile artificial lighting? Maybe done in a way that has balance and which fits within the gameworld?

Maybe a lighting mod for the drone? Although that would be worse than useless unless the option is added to have the drone not frequently getting in your way, flying right in front of your field of view.

Maybe a brighter headlamp that has the side effect of reducing your carrying capacity (to simulate the requirement for more battery capacity to power the more powerful headlamp)?

I don't feel like it should be so dark you can't see 'anything' but, variable degrees of darkness would seem more realistic. It's not really a big deal either way cuz, we normally find some source of light for the night as soon as possible anyway. I figure the headlamp on a helmet is going to light up the area ya need it for no matter what the darkness conditions are. So, it would only make a 'real' difference in the early game before you've found a permanent source of light. I still think it would be pretty cool effect though... having lunar cycles. Definitely not a 'need' of the game... just cool to have.

I saw a waning crescent moon today. The sky was darker than the full moon. Apparently they do have phases but I don't know if they have all of the moon phases and if they work like they do in real life. I will have to look at the night sky more.
