So in any case: A16+ releases have been worth a playthrough, but lack replay value. But you can go back to older alphas by opting into the "Betas" (Manage - Properties - Betas - the dropdown).
Don't waste any more time on it.
its really surprising and shocking, how a game can be made bad and worse. did the community want this changes, or were it the devs?
Let me guess…your favorite part was the Minecraftish blocky world around you and you hated that they removed the necessity of always playing Navesgane by adding infinite random maps…
no, when I played the game the blocky look was removed. I played the game with some friends back then. I admit, that I dont know exactly, when we played. in my memory, it was from 2013-2016. and the reason I didnt play the game for so long was very simple. the game was alpha and early access. I was waiting for the full release.
lootable zombies are just annoying - there is SO MUCH stuff u can loot...
sometimes zombies drop a backpack with loot - especially at bloodmoon
(with good/better) loot and not just crap.
the big wolves: they aint invincible - avoid them until you get a "good" weapon.
and the new "random generated maps" are great - with really nice towns and pois.
electric: auto-turrets, lightnings, etc.
vehicles: 4x4 truck, bicycle, gyrocopter...
and tons of mods...
Definitely worth getting back into graphically it hasn't done anything major but the overall content and survival aspect is worth it, especially if youre will to install some mods.
I bet it also depends somewhat on playstyle to notice the differences, in any case, they are immense. That's why it's an integral part of this forum that people all the time point out that they're unhappy with the changes the game underwent.
The wolves with the glowy eyes? I think most players are okay with them being in the game. This is the first real complaint I’ve heard about them since….2021. ;-)
why is that a reason?
i play since a15 (?) and had never gamebreaking bugs.
many people are very happy that the game is getting better and better and better.
why should they ever leave alpha^^
no, its the overall state of the game, that shocked me 2 years ago. you may not like, what I say, but Im free to do so and I dont insult anyone. I just wanna point out that 7D2D took a route I dont like and I didnt need 2000 hours to play to see that.
