Not to mention all the experience you get from the tons of kills... been tempted to try a blood moon every night setup, but didn't wanna start again till A21 came out since there's going to be so many changes, and it's coming out relatively soonish...
Ooo... forgot about that... dropping the max speed they can move also does WONDERS for keeping lag to a minimum even when you have huge numbers wandering around. :D
I also tend to either add larger wandering hordes or play overhauls that already have larger wandering hordes built in. Right now I'm playing the Wild West overhaul and that spawns hordes of a dozen or more right from day one. It's also made much harder by the very different availability of guns because it's set roughly parallel to the mid-late 19th century in the real world. In that mod, the gatling gun was invented shortly before the apocalypse. It's very rare. And that's your lot for automatic weapons.
EDIT: My only gripe with the Wild West overhaul is that the Craft From Containers modlet isn't compatible with it. I've become very used to the convenience of that mod. If I install both, I get a Wild West overhaul loading screen showing constantly. The gameworld loads in and I have move, access my inventory, skills, etc, but I can't see the gameworld.
Darkness falls is great and Khaine only keeps making it better and better. We have a server for it and we love the amount of options it has. Khaine is very helpful too if you ever have a problem.
I set loot to low, zombies spawn via ini edit to high and crank the difficulty up.
Then just roleplay a lone survivor in a zombie postapocalypse.
And i still die plenty enough and have a challenge that way, even without any blood moon horde.
Also dont use traders much. I am having fun this way. The 7 day horde just does not appeal to me, it feels way too "THIS IS A VIDEO GAME".
