Anyone else play without blood moon?
I often play solo and I wondered: Does anyone else play with no blood moons?
If you do, what settings do you use and how do you play?

I turn off horde mode for the first while. just don't want to be rushed to find a location to build or a pre-built structure. i set days to 120 loot re-spawn 5 days and air drops daily. the air drops force me as a timid player to go out further as a lot like to drop in areas i haven't been. i don't typically mess with any other settings. seems to allow me to comfortably play and get into trouble from time to time

I gotta agree with the 10 day setting, gives you more time to prep between attacks. Turning it off takes away a good chunk of what risk there is in the game, and you also lose out on the extra loot bag possibilities. :D

Not to mention all the experience you get from the tons of kills... been tempted to try a blood moon every night setup, but didn't wanna start again till A21 came out since there's going to be so many changes, and it's coming out relatively soonish...

I turn off bloodmoon, drop block damage to 25% and set everything to walk. No loot respawn, 60 min days. no supply drops. I like my zeds slow, shambling slabs of dead meat that cant punch through stone and metal while I pick apart and scavenge towns and cities one building at a time.

I've known people to play with zombies off. They turned it into a rebuilding simulator.

Ooo... forgot about that... dropping the max speed they can move also does WONDERS for keeping lag to a minimum even when you have huge numbers wandering around. :D

I don't turn them off. I just decrease time between BM's. Like DytBlayde, I change the block damage multipliers. I don't want to take forever tearing down an old destroyed building (or modifying my own) and I don't want them 'quickly' destroying my base either. But, I'm more into the whole 'building' part of the game. Zombies are just a nice diversion to mix it up a bit. And, I do like the BM nights... just don't need to go through it EVERY week. Gets monotonous for me if I leave it at default. So, I treat BM as like a once a month deal... kind of like my wifes, lol. Shh... don't tell her I said that. lol I don't like zeds having crazy running speed but, I don't like them too slow either. I don't want to wait a long time for them to reach me. I just don't want them to outpace me if I need to turn and run. Ofc, if I break my leg or run out of stamina... they'll overtake me set on 'run' though.

Khaine made this sweet mod that lets you set your wandering hordes to LOTS of zombies several times a day. To me, that's more fun than a predictable Blood Moon when I'm playing solo since you never know when or how large or what the makeup of the horde will be. I like that though I also play normal hordes with friends, and, when playing with the grandkids, I turn horde off until they say they are ready for one. We get an awesome horde base built, and they're armored and armed to the teeth, and the zombie ganking ensues. Love hearing the squeels and laughter, little zombie killing maniacs. So proud...

What a precious comment Khissi

I play with blood moon off because I'm not fond of tower defence games. I tend to have zombies on jog during the day, run at night and sprint when they're angry. Difficulty around the middle because it's just a bullet sponge slider. I play mainly as a builder and explorer.

I also tend to either add larger wandering hordes or play overhauls that already have larger wandering hordes built in. Right now I'm playing the Wild West overhaul and that spawns hordes of a dozen or more right from day one. It's also made much harder by the very different availability of guns because it's set roughly parallel to the mid-late 19th century in the real world. In that mod, the gatling gun was invented shortly before the apocalypse. It's very rare. And that's your lot for automatic weapons.

EDIT: My only gripe with the Wild West overhaul is that the Craft From Containers modlet isn't compatible with it. I've become very used to the convenience of that mod. If I install both, I get a Wild West overhaul loading screen showing constantly. The gameworld loads in and I have move, access my inventory, skills, etc, but I can't see the gameworld.

I have been thinking about making a 'They are Billions' style game in this game, where I have a good amount of time before a massive hoard shows up. :munchies:

This is awesome. I can see how you get excitement and joy at the expense of your grandkids lol.

Darkness falls is great and Khaine only keeps making it better and better. We have a server for it and we love the amount of options it has. Khaine is very helpful too if you ever have a problem.
I haven't deactivated it but I delay it a lot. I'm not a big fan of base building, I prefer exploration and craft. I play with the Undead Legacy mod and reform prefabs to use as a base. I find it much more fun that way.

I have considered it but yet to try it. I think it would be fun to build a base capable of keeping out the odd Z and being as creative as I possible can. Looting and exploring is really fun too

Nearly every time. I find the whole bloodmoon horde system way too gimmicky.
I set loot to low, zombies spawn via ini edit to high and crank the difficulty up.
Then just roleplay a lone survivor in a zombie postapocalypse.
And i still die plenty enough and have a challenge that way, even without any blood moon horde.

Also dont use traders much. I am having fun this way. The 7 day horde just does not appeal to me, it feels way too "THIS IS A VIDEO GAME".
