"Opening the shapes selection window the first time starts with the basic shapes filter selected"
that puts the basic shape filter on by default because the list of shapes is monumental?
Been here since A4 and we started to complain in A6, 7, 8, 9 and continued to complain about the needless changes over and over instead of adding new and better content. What we learned is the devs have been playing around with the game similar to a self taught artist who draws for the first time, changes it and changes it, till it looks good enough. So the artist eye for this game is Madmole just so you know. He is the one who is "playing" this game from a different viewpoint. Consider him GOD of 7d2d.
So if you want any chance of any changes, best you write to him directly on the official forums. But it's doubtful to be of much worth.
I do think the game is better for a hardcore survival, but for the most part has lost the brilliance it once was, and I don't think the devs care about popularity anymore, they have their money in pocket so now it's just about creating the game they want to play for the rest of their lives. A serious game. Nothing to just come in and mess around in.
The water issue is a huge one, because of different play styles. For example, This completely destroys half of a PVP server player base, because many of them will never go near a Trader, which is camped all the time. If we could craft our own filters and purifier mod there wouldn't be such an issue. But the devs don't care about our play style. When even more people give up on this game, then you will see them bring it back or do something else trying to get more players back, but it might be too late.
That said, Has it occured to you that this change might be preceding a larger change to traders themselves? Yknow, We still have to have other NPCS like bandits and survivors added in, and the story, whatever form that takes.. And they may will relent and allow for crafting the filters down the line after seeing how the experimental and all that plays out.
PvP is pretty garbage in 7DTD and I bet around 1% of the player base plays it. Having said that, they should never balance their PvE around a niche mode. You can always mod the game if PvP "balance" is so important to you.
Gotta love all the knee jerk reactions and crying from people, it's funny.
Enjoying myself immensely.
The slower start and pacing is exactly what i wanted from this game and not being completely overpowered 10 days in like in the last few versions feels great.
But it has been for many years and very stupid for the devs to change that true fact.
Then they patched it out making purifiers more expensive and magazines a bit harder to get (you can still find Forge ahead magazines, but need to loot a ton more to find more).
First and foremost, save your thirst and hunger as much as possible and play efficiently for the first 7 days, doing questing as much as possible in a single day so you can basically get dukes, exp, and the assortment of items from the list.
Boosting quest rewards might be needed to speed up the grind.
No matter how much resources you hoard, you will be stuck with lacking water until you loot enough to build a dew collector, or you farm enough murky water, or basically drink dirty water like a madman while hoarding vitamin pills and golden rod teas.
For multiplayer, this scarcity is even worse unless you cooperate very efficiently, sharing the quest rewards to increase the amount of loot your team gets to push forward your base. But in PVP type of gamemodes, you'd need to mod or essentially modify the game settings itself to accommodate this massive change.
If you play on default settings, the moment everyone looted everything (in multiplayer), it'll be extremely hard to keep up on replenishing stuff on the map unless you make air drop happen every day and having global chunks reset every 10 days and loot refilling every 3 days.
** Remember that loot quality and abundance is based on the character progression and game state levels of the world, meaning if low level characters keeps looting everything, the odds of finding decent quantity of water plummets **
Like with general major alpha builds, it's always the player fighting against the devs with the changes being made... People made bases that are hard to raid using AI trickery with blocks in A20, so they got nerfed to oblivion. People took advantage of what A20 gives and such, so they nerfed it to oblivion with a revamp to A21.
So to this end, the devs will keep replacing, revamping, and not finishing the game because they don't want to see players reaching end game and being bored, it's as if they 'fear' that scenario.
The original WoW and FF14 1.0 did that because they had no content to show in the endgame.
The original Everquest did that before everything else...
The 3x3x1 cube is in shapes in the gear shapes ( Between the armchair and the T Shape symbols).
What I wanted to write is that people like OP shouldn't "cry" about that "(hard) grind" what I don't see in 7D and compared to other games where the "grind" is really much worse. Next time he should play FF XI or Lineage 2. Then it's allowed to cry like a river about "grind". Besides of that he seems he has no skill to survive in this game. Simple statement when reading his text. Better to quit and move on.
