Certain objects not rendering until I'm right on top of them. A bug or a feature?

Objects like trash (lootable or otherwise) corpses and crops have an extremely short render distance despite my render distance being set to high.

Yeah. +1 on this. I see cars appearing too.

I tried to fix it with video settings but it doesn't render these things further away.

Also noticed that some of the LOD buildings are different than the closer buildings.

I haven't personally noticed this with cars, but I wouldn't doubt it. I am noticing trader compound details are extremely low resolution until I'm within maybe 20 blocks away, too.

Some of the new POI's have stupidly short spawn distances for zombies too. I was in one of the new body shops and I dropped down two feet from a stairwell onto a shelf and a zombie literally popped in under my feet as I was landing. That's just insane.

I have wasted many Repairkits on my car and motorbike because cars, rocks and trolleys spawn in a couple of metres infront of me.

Give it a miss till it's stable. Or adjust your play style. The reason your video isn't crawling is because they squeezed the code balloon here. Later it will be something else that's annoying, that's normal in experimental.

Are you playing solo game on your own server? I have played some 80 hours on the new patch by now, never got things to spawn so late i would hit them - but i got up to motorbike only. Use no mods, and have the game installed on SSD.

The issues you describe can be dependant on multiple things - how good is your graphics card/processor, how fast is your ssd/hdd, if you play on different sever how good is your ping and how fast is your internet. Unfortunately too many variables for easy fix.

EDIT: Things spawning close to you is definitely not a feature, i never observed it in this game, although i probably know what you mean, because i seen it in different games.
