Explain POI's to me please?
Tried doing a search on poi's but couldnt find current info. Im at Weston Weigh Station for example and shows 3 Red skulls in top right. I take it the skulls difficulty lvl. Ok thats fine bit high area but imma do it anyway lol Well AGAIN.

Ok so what Im asking is how do i FINISH the POI? Will it show some thing to say I have cleared it or some thing? DO I get some thing for clearing it? Other then random loot in boxes?

If you dont have a mission from trader, then then is no "finish the poi". You just loot what you want and thats it

pois are like puzzles. or at least that is how they design them, although you are always welcome to head straight to the treasure room if you know where it is. Some clear them to live there while others just do so for fun or loot room. Some have special features which make them desirable for reasons named. Like looto said unless there is a trader mission, which fyi will reset the poi, there is no mission involved.

Note I said they can reset the poi. Unless you place a bedroll any poi you move into is fair game for trader missions. Also there is a thing called dbl dipping. Some players will loot the treasure room before a mission then reset the poi to loot it again. Morality aside it can be profitable.

The 'end' of a POI is generally demarcated by a loot stash; A typically locked chest of some sort and a number of closed wooden crates and maybe a pile or three of medicine or ammo all in one small area.. The 'end' also tends to have a quick way back out of the building somewhere nearby to it.

But aside from being on a quest from the trader, there's nothing you explicitly have to do to 'finish' a POI; You can just do however much you feel like, leave whenever you want and come back- Zombies'll respawn after a number of days though, so make sure you come back before then if you wanna finish looting.

Ah ok thats fine. Have not done any missions yet. Not sure I found any poi loot room as have not find a room like you describe near a "exit" yet.

Ok just found my first one :-) had a key on otherside of some iron basement door. Was like 0k hp so i ignored door. When found room full of loot I saw same hatch. And a key that opened it next to it. Yay for my first finished poi lol well looted poi.. lol

If you are on a trader mission, the upper right corner of the screen has an X next to "clear" or whatever youre doing until its done. When you have completed the mission it'll say Return To Trader with distance to Trader.

Otherwise...what they said above 👍🏻

Cool might go try one now. I live next to huge city and a trader like 100 feet from my base lol

The intended path through a POI is shown via light sources and unlocked doors. For example, if you walked around the perimeter of a building, you might notice a flashlight shining into a open window or climbable thing. That is always where a mission's starting point is. Along the path, if you encounter a locked door with a hole through it, then that's usually a room unimportant to the path (might hide a lootable container or two, but rarely zombies), feel free to explore it and return to the path. You can always go off-path (lets you sneak up on Zs easier), but it's a little easier to miss Zs during a Clear mission that way.

Just did a fetch mission and it broke chain :-/ I was 0.2M from target but couldnt find the chest. Ripped out the floor "location showed me closes under the floor" And even dug out dirt beneath floor all around and closes could get was 0.2M while under ground. Had to walk away and fail :-/

That sucks, I've seen quests (all types) bug out occasionally too. I'd guess it's about 1%. Pretty much exactly as you described, where you're given a hint that the thing or event is right where you're standing, but nothing's there or happening.

One option is to leave game and when you enter you can restart the quest (it resets the POI). The issue is so rare that I have no memories of using this to fix a bug (perhaps the quest will just bug out again due to unknown causes).

So if happens again I should just exit and then reload game?
Corsin Aug 22, 2023 @ 3:42am
When that happened to me, I just take the loss of quest reward and do another. Everyone is different, plays differently, but not worth time and effort to redo just for quest reward to me. Especially if low level POI and not gonna take alot of time to do another POI.

Yes but was building up the chain. Seems get bonus for them. And I only getting tier 1s atm

I understand. Time is wasted and it's frustrating, but xp still gained (very important thing for progression obviously) and only 1 quest reward lost.

Oh I wasnt upset. Well.. Maybe a little lol But I moved on to next mission. Was just going to try the relog thing to try keep chain if happens again. I am working on a 10 long chain. So failing wouldnt just be little time lost and rewards. Would be worth while numbers now.
