Grease Monkey is a huge waste of points now.
I am still on My bicycle from a quest reward, and then got another reward of a Motorcycle bundle, it had everything except Motorcycle Handlebars, So I checked the traders for a while and none showed up,

So I saved 5 or 6 points and sunk them into intellect, bicycle, minibike and Motor Cycle, and all I got was to be able to create Motor Cycle parts 33% cheaper, and repair kits work 30% better on vehicles, but I still can not make Handlebars!, I still need to find all the Magazines up to 45.

Grease Monkey skill tree needs to be removed or reworked, as it is of no use, all those points wasted just to be able to create 2 Motor Cycle parts 33% cheaper, and get a 30% better improvement on repair kits for vehicles that may need repairing maybe 6 times in the whole play through.

Those points aren't strictly wasted. First off, Having them means you'll find the vehicle books more often- Which, given you want to make handlebars, will be pretty important.

Second, you can respec at any time with a Grandpa's Fergettin Elixer- Nothing stopping you from respeccing out of those decisions, or even waiting till you can craft the handlebars before doing so.

I agree. Grandpas Elixier is not really an argument, because it just bypasses a broken system.

Grease Monkey would be fine if it gives +5%/lv vehicle speed or something.

Same applies for some other skills (like pack mule, animal harvesting, etc)

Movement speed should have been a thing a long time ago, seeing how abysmal the moving speed on foot is, vanilla, in combination with the abysmal stamina usage and several factors to slow you down even further at any given time.

I think a bouns on fuel efficiency would make more sense.

I like how 50% of the skill becomes pointless when you craft the vehicle.
I wish they would spent even 10% of the energy in optimization and logical skills buffs than they do in finding out how people play the game in a way they don't like and nerf it the next patch.
And what is up with the triggers in the POI’s nowadays, now you are spawning in zombies even behind us? How is that even remotely fair? It’s a survival game .. not a CoD game with tower defense.

You have no idea what you're talking about, OP. Vehicles are so weak and fragile now you absolutely need grease monkey to reduce the amount of repair kits it takes. Wait till you bump into a shopping cart or parked car and then try to tell us it's worthless. My entire motorcycle exploded on a fence yesterday and if you so much as bump your gyro into a tree it will nearly destroy it.

Sounds like you do not know what you are talking about, last map I played I was day 90+ and had used a repair kit around 4 times on My Vehicle, I am on day 28 on this map and have not used a repair kit yet.

3350 hours in game.

It's still good to have it, maybe it's pointless when you reach 100/100 veichle xD at this point you can craft tons of kit with 0 effort xD

totally agree with the skill beeing useless.

Especially since the bonuses become redundant by the time you are able to craft the vehicle you dont care for the little ressources anymore. you only craft it 1 time anyway, maybe twice with bad luck or Coop.

What they should do is make Grease Monkey make your vehicles take less collision damage so they don't explode the moment you tap something with them lightly. That'd make it a viable skill again.

I'm using a turbocharged motorbike, usually at maximum speed. I slow down in congested parts of cities. I've travelled 294.65 Km in my current game, most of it on the motorbike.

I use about 1 repair kit every 2 days.

Yes, it's annoying that even a very low speed collision with a mattress will do ~10% damage to your vehicle. But it's not enough of a cost to justify putting points into slightly reducing the cost. As long as you don't deliberately run into things and you can have a high enough draw distance to avoid the extremely bad pop-in, it's OK.

My bicycle took almost 30% damage when I hit the top of node at low speed, had a bush in front of it. At least I didn't go flying over the handlebars to get a broken arm, multiple abrasions, and a concussion lol.

It'll take you 70-80 days to be able to make a 4x4 and even longer to make a gyro if you ignore it.
The magazines will show up a lot more when you put points into it and can get up to the 4x4 in around 30 days.
The alternate is to do trader quests for the same trader to get to a better loot table with them and buy vehicles.

It's a good job the devs don't read these forums or else that might be in the next update :)

Seeing as just how easy it is to damage vehicles now. Having a boost to repair is still a nice thing to have and mostly why i spec into it later in game.
