just go to options for the game in steam and stay on A20
but you do have a point on why cant we delete them from within the game
literally all we need is a screen similar to the load save screen that shows us the worlds we have and what version of the game they were generated in and delete and rename buttons
why cant we also pick a name for the world?
If you had worlds deletable from within the game itself, It would be WAY easier for users to inadvertently remove a world that is necessary for a save they care about; When it's out-game you need to consciously go to find the save and you're more likely to be aware of exactly which one you should or shouldn't delete.
oof yeah that makes sense
I've seen people do this in minecraft, build something then copy and paste it elsewhere in the world.
If it would be possible to do the same thing but have it so that your favourite builds could be easily ported into new versions of the game despite the requirement of needing to start a new game, that would honestly be amazing.
Wouldn't just need to be used for preserving your base either so you could "continue" where you left off with a new character.
It would give players all sorts of creative freedom to design their own POI's or simulate raiding other players bases in a solo PvE setting.
Could even challenge yourself by intentionally making a heavily fortified base, importing it to your new world and then trying to raid it for all your old loot.
And I don't even need to talk about the Mario Maker levels of potential this feature would have for 7 days players when it comes to the ability to upload and share your saved base/POI files so other players can download them, add them to their own worlds and explore/conquer them.
I have no doubt that such a feature would be massively popular in the long run, especially if there was a rating/comment system for uploaded builds so people could give feedback/review them.
Depending on the changes it is required to create a new world to have all the new features, this is how it is in games, you can't add something physical new in a world that was already made.
Take Minecraft for example, in Minecraft you CAN do that because in Minecraft you generate the world as you play the game, but 7 Days to Die and Terraria generates the world entirely before joining in, so you can't add more things in a world that was already created.
So... If there's something new that can change the game, like a new biome, or new buildings, new POI, you need to create a new world to have access to those. You can still play in your previous world but you'll have to downgrade the game to a previous version.
By the way, important to know that, even if the change doesn't alter the world, it could give conflict and issues. Returning to Minecraft as example, I already had multiple issues trying to stay in a world outdated, big major issues like an entire chunk vanishing from the game (a huge hole from top to bottom leading to death), or stuff like that.
The real best thing you can do is to create a new world when a new major version release so you don't have a problem. In the case of the experimental, we knew from experimental to stable it would require a new world, so you could skip the experimental and go for stable only.
Im probably going to be the only one that agrees with you but im use to it. The part im agreeing on is not so much the fact of starting over even though i would like not to start over but the fact of when they look at how many hours you played and say you have a 1000 hrs played well yeah if i have to start over to get back to were i was because if i didnt have to start over i wouldnt have all those hrs played. Thats my reason when they say this game is so great because look at all the hours people have played Yeah ok i call it INFLATED game play hours.
Explain this to me, please. Because your explanation doesn't make any sense.
Next thing you'll say, those hours are just people waiting in the main menu... am I right?
It's the downside that comes with continued development.
