My new rule is around day 4 to gauge how much this aspect will screw me over before I make that decision.
Problem here is, the best way to get an engine is with a wrench.
Loot more trash and cars. I've a stack of mechanical parts in every playthrough. Eventually you can craft one.
This, why don't you just make one? You only need one wrenches book(mag) to know how.
I did. And how its always in this game, now I find them one after another.
That said, I haven't had much issue getting enough magazines (so far) to be able to at least craft a lvl1 wrench before too long. Just sounds like it was one of those starts with terrible forever-RNG for something that's commonly needed/wanted. Sometimes I get a start like that and after a while I go "screw it" and start a new game to try and reroll the RNG, so to speak, into wanting to be stingy with something I don't care about.
It's even harder on 25% loot. Finally got awarded one on Day 11 from Joel. Very happy day, that was
