Disrespectful GREEDY TFP
By making the twitch extension MANDATORY they will now be funneling 20% of streamers donations to themselves.

I guess its time for me to dust off my old copy of twitch integration i made a year before they did and update it to work with the new version and let the parachute bears rain some more.

Cause i'll be DAMNED if I let them take 20% of the revenue from anyone if I can help it.

Now I am not saying its a bad thing to have the extension at all.
It can be a great way to expand the capabilities of the integration and add extra functionality that cant be done with the basic version but to make it Mandatory is just plain greedy.

You should have left it as optional like it should be.

Wait wait wait. TFP takes a cut of stream donations if the streamer is using 7DtD Twitch integration? How does that even work?
Also parachute bears sounds 100x more fun than any of the stuff I have seen them add to it.

The normal integration was not a problem but they just released an update to make it REQUIRE the 7dtd Extension and not work without it.

Now any events that happen through the extension instead of through the normal events will have 20% of the donation go to TFP

https://help.twitch.tv/s/article/earning-revenue-from-bits-in-extensions
When your viewers perform and confirm an action that requires Bits within the Extension on your channel page, you’ll earn 80% of 1 U.S. cent per Bit used and the remaining 20% is shared with the Extension developer. The Bits in Extensions program, including revenue share, may be adjusted from time to time or deprecated by Twitch in its sole discretion.

This change was pushed through today in the middle of a stream and it instantly disabled the integration.

Sounds like a good way to ensure twitchers stream content from other games besides 7dtd. But me spidey sense tells me ALL games will follow so they will bounce back.

But to be fair I know nothing of twitch, have never watched twitch, and certainly dont know anything of the business practices of the twitch model.

So take my words with the tiniest of grains of salt.

I'm not a streamer myself, so I had no clue Twitch extensions could take some of the profit for themselves. I will definitely be letting my newer streamer friends know about this, since I pointed out 7DtD having integration, and some were interested.
I'll also have to let them know to look out of a community made extension that has parachute bears lol.

Why do you care? Nobody is subbing to you anyway.

Not just exclusive to TFP mind you. It's a Twitch Affiliate program. And since it only loosely specifies "The extension developers": that could be ANYONE from big companies to private entities and solo devs. Also reading the clause, Twitch still maintains control over the payouts, breakdown and percentages so... don't be so quick to get the torches and pitchforks just yet.

Yeah considering Twitch just stole a lot of money from streamers, I don't think many are gonna be willing to stream this game if they are about to get their already small revenue split even further.

It's...it's...it's freakin Blackrock !!! "Look at all that money we can steal and give to ourselves, and in a few years we will flip the percentages..."
80 for us 20 for our slaves.... :)

The issue is that they made the extension mandatory to use the integration at all now when before it worked just fine without it.

yay you win a cookie.. you have honed in on the fact that I am a programmer and not a streamer....

I care because the only reason I let my twitch integration mod fall out of date and die was because 7dtd implemented their own version.

Now I am going to go and update my version because this is a wholly unnecessary feature that cuts into streamers donations which is the whole reason I did NOT make mine into an extension.

im having trouble understanding what your complaining about. please clear it up a bit. so your upset that in order to use their intergration, you have to pay now. but if you stream and dont use the intergration, you dont have anything taken from you right?

Because it's mandatory...

TFP clearly needs the extra funds so they can once again rework the skill system.
