That means you can then serach for it easier in one of the default groups of the build menu. Is it a square? Is it a slope? Is it a rounded block?
After that, you should figure out one of the "keywords" of the name, based on its shape.
For example, if it's a corner, you can filter only the corner blocks in the build UI search bar.
That way IMO it's not so hard to find the exact block (and block name) you're searching for.
^That is what I usually do as well.
Alternately, you can hit F11 while looking at the block in question. This brings up an info panel which includes block name.

You can also grab the Admin Block Tool from creative menu. It has a copy/replace function.

Also the admin paintbrush can copy blocks wholesale including painted sides/shape/type.
Wow! I have a lot of hours in this game and that's the first time I've read about this. It doesn't require debug or creative modes which really makes it useful. There are a lot of useful features in the game that just aren't documented anywhere which is extremely annoying. Thanks for the tip.
