the term alpha is really losing its purpose, it should only be 1 year max in alpha not finisht bye kick from steam. some of these game's mis use the alpha stage way to much, i dit buy the game in 2013 whit the idee it wil be finisht whitin 1 year atleast 10 years later its still not done this is a joke.

Still in Alpha??
Remembered about this game after I got to talking with some friends last night and saw it had an update for ALPHA version whatever?? Wait what?? This game has been in development for nearly 10 years and it's not even in beta? I'm sure it's come a long way since I last played, but seriously, what the hell?

I really don't understand the point of this, if they have so much progress being done. Are they just worried about moving to something more if the game has a lot of content or something?

i'm sure you could find your answer in the 100's of other threads made about this

Copy and pasted from the last time this was asked...yesterday.

Current Roadmap:
A21 is projected to be last Alpha/First Beta, projected to be released sometime between summer and Christmas 2022
Beta phase is projected to last 6-8 months and then, BOOM, games done.

They also have a console port of the game. Unfortunately, the console version cannot continuously be updated like the PC version.

Maybe this has a reason to do with it.

I may actually be a bit sad if the game ever leaves alpha. :P

Telltale, the company responsible for the console versions is dead and closed.

The reason the console version cannot be updated is because Telltale chose to release the game as a "Finished Product" which limited the extent of what could be updated, because "Finished Products" have the update conditional of "not breaking saves".

TLDR: Telltale ♥♥♥♥♥♥ TFP and the console player base.

Yep, still in alpha. 8 years seems like a long time, but it's not that uncommon for indie or big studios. Ignore the edgelords that just want to bash the devs for continuing their work til it's done. The end is in sight, most kickstarter goals are now complete, couple more then it goes into beta... My own hunch is another 2 years.

same "problem" with project zomboid they promised/planned a bunch of feature and well here we are still in alpha since 2013 there pretty close to beta though just gotta add npcs and there going into the beta stage but 7 days to die is really just in the alpha stage because well the devs have ambition and want all planned/promised features in their game which is probably a lot of features evident by the 8 years in alpha but once they finish all promised/planned feature they will move onto polishing and then releasing the game.

Wait what? Still no valid reason the game should not, be in alpha getting great new stuff every new update? Will wonders never cease? I can`t recall any who have answered my direct question, over these years. They always pop up every once in a while, endless threads, and ask "why it isn`t finished yet"? Nary a one I can recall, gives a valid reason why it should be finished;-) just sayin.

Thank you to the ones who gave legitimate answers, I was just completely baffled the game was in alpha this long. Never knew a game could stay in such a state for so long and still be considered alpha (not including yandere game).
