The trader most times I finish a T5 quest:
"Ah I see you have a cigar, better barter maxed out, lucky looter maxed out, and just spent 1.5 hours finishing a T5 quest for me. Hows this T4 sledgehammer and a bandoleer mod sound?"
Now that being said It is still my favorite game of all time. I am just glad there are modders to give it back the survival aspect.
I like that some mods such as Darkness Falls rebalance trader rewards while encouraging exploration with things like 'story' quests. They don't really address the issue of almost all PoIs being funhouses with treasure rooms at the end but nothing's perfect.
Oh and I might mention a modlet called STAY CLEAR. It prevents zombies and loot from respawning completely. Makes you go hunt for stuff rather than POI spamming.
It wont prevent everything magically re-appearing with trader quest though.
Thank you for your understanding
You're pretty much stuck in there. Can't leave the vicinity, can't exit the game, can't just head out if it gets boring or you run out of ammo without failing the quest and the reward from the trai(d)ters are laughable anyway.
Just do them for funsies.
Why do you need screamer farm anyway if you could simply turn on horde every night? Screamer hordes sometimes are hard to control
Screamer farm is outdated. With cities being so clumped up these days the best "meta" for farming XP via kills is either BM as you mentioned or sprinting through the front door of a POI, running over all the trash, running back through the front door you came in, turn towards said door - fire away. Theres 20 zeds lined up in a conga line from each building you run a lap through.
Since shotguns do more damage than a JDAM missile in this game you can often kill 8 zeds with one shot.
After you hit up the crack a book T5 (break iron spikes at front door, break door to basement, trigger the 35 zombies down there, run back outside), then the working stiff, then the shamway.... just free zeds. You dont have to toil in the whole POI either, often times on the bigger ones you can just run through one or two rooms never stopping your sprint til your back outside. Then the XP comes marching through the door.
Well, yeah. If you saw my later posts, I don't even play with traders anymore in vanilla because they let you optimize the fun out of the game too easily. That's still the case whether you do every tier or not. In a sense, I kinda feel like doing trader missions at all is cheesing. But I'm just saying, if you're going for it, from a pure efficiency standpoint it makes the most sense to spam short T4s to get the T5 completion bonus.
I find that only doing trader quests which is how I have been playing for the last few Alphas ends up taking the variety out of the game and makes it get stale very fast especially because I end up targeting the T4 POIs in the snow zone to maximize loot stage until I can handle wasteland which means I end up doing the same POIs over and over again in a drab cold snowy zone.
However, it is hard to go back to looting random POIs in random zones when you are used to looting T4s in the snow biome. Anything short of the T4 snow biome trader quests brings useless loot comparatively. I sort of feel like this could be improved but not sure how.
If you don't need loot, I'd say you're in a spot where you don't need anything, in which case, clearing it for fun is definitely an option. It's a pretty nice challenge too.
