POI Base?
What's your thoughts on taking over a regular house as a base? Granted I would have a separate side base as a horde night base. Do you like to take over regular houses or build your own base?

This right here. Always have at least two bases.

I sometimes do three. One for fun, one for crafting, and one for fighting.

Only way to play......
mind you...... in some areas.. the Zombies just will not give up the real Estate easily...
Almost continual attacks...

Just a few warnings though....
1. you only own the blocks you place.
2. Better NEVER place you base it any building likely to get hit by a trader Quest...
.... cos it's gonna reset.....
3. There are maybe only a couple of buildings that will totally survive a zombie attack at the highest levels... and it's not the ones you think.. since it is based on pathing , not block hit points...

I've held a full single user (more users on a server = less red moon zombies) attack against a building with a single block with a 200 HP block. at over lev 190 days...
Pathing is the key...
Why waste the resources on multiple Horde day bases..... unless ur an avid believer in YouTube gamers...

Wait to be clear. Will the house reset even if there is a Claim Block in the house and turned on?

It shouldn't. Placing an LCB down should remove the POI from the list. On top of that, the location only resets when the quest is activated. If a quest takes you to a location that you're using as a base, just abandon the quest.

I like to build my own. Retro building POI is fun too but IMO they usually have weird structural collapses and run risk of sharing location with trader missions.

Almost always a POI, been in groups that have tried to build own base but its never been completed in the duration of play. Both as Home Base and Horde base a POI is just easier to start with and then expand from than to start from scratch. As soon as possible i move the "Hot" stuff to a deep underground bunker.

Good to know thank you for the clarification!

I prefer a custom build but have renovated POIs before depending on mood and what the RWG map provides. Frankly, I prefer having the horde base and crafting base integrated.
This. I always have my base contain everything. It's usually multi-story, sometimes goes underground and then I have an area to fight the horde.

problem with underground bunkers, is "view thru the landscape clipping", they stand out like a sore thumb... until they get it fixed...

I'm sure that's a issue for PVP, which i don't do or care about, i play with friends and we're all working together. As for the zombies they do attract that's why you have it a bit away so you can snipe the screamers before they cause issues

Every options are good IMO. I prefer to use one base in a fortified POI. I usually go for the cemetary and, by choice, don't build any escape so if they reach me in the last room of the crypt, they win. It keeps me quite motivated to increase my defenses as the game progresses.

I use whatever POI the trader sends me to first, which is usually a gas station. I fortify it and build around it. These are usually already made with cobblestone that can withstand the first 2 or 3 hordes with no upgrades (resources) needed, which leaves you with more time to loot.

I've built my own but there's no practical sense in doing it since the game is already too easy as it is and you get so much XP from crafting, mining, and upgrading. I have to restart a series well before I ever fully max out because you become a superhero too soon before eventually turning into a god at level 300.

So if I build my own base then I'm getting more XP than I am killing zombies which makes me reach MY "maxed-out" level even faster but with less exploring, looting, killing zombies and actually having fun.

If they wanted to make the game harder and last longer then they should either add an option menu to choose what you gain XP on, or stop giving XP for EVERYTHING you do.

There is an XP multiplier setting (and also a loot multiplier setting) for experienced players.
