Vortex is broken
I don't know who broke Vortex, the program I have been using for mods for the last year or two, but I would bet heavily it was the so-called "Fun Pimps".

Okay so I got a bit angry and vented. Pardon. I got Vortex to work after about 6 hours of pressing buttons and reading. The pressing buttons helped more.
Apparently there will be some deprecation, if I am spelling it correctly, of some files and "things" had to be moved. It's working now but I'm not really sure what I did, if anything.
And I'm not playing the next Alpha if water bottles go poof. That's ridiculous. I'll stick with an older, more reasonable Alpha.
The game is good, but the constant fiddling with it is annoying.

It's literally impossible for TFP (or any company) to "break" vortex. That's not how it works.

I would suggest posting this on the nexus forums.
Yes. TFP have sent agents to sabotage Vortex, they have their people on the inside now.

Vortex has never been great for games that it wasn't designed to support. This is one of them.

Most mod installs are literally just copy-paste the folder into the Mods folder of the game client though, so an app like Vortex isn't even needed if you have the most basic computing skills.

What's Vortex?

The mod loader tool for Nexus mods website. It's designed specifically to work with stuff like Skyrim, ect that Nexus originally centered around. However they started adding a lot of other games to Nexus, without usually configuring/updating Vortex to work with them.

For 7 Days, the mods have been hosted on Nexus for half a decade at least, but it wasn't until just a couple of years ago that they actually set up Nexus to work with the game client to properly install mods. It's still hit or miss depending on whether the mod is packaged properly. A lot of them have double-nested folders that break the installation.
