How do you use world seeds?

i know this is a silly question but i have tried a few people suggested and typed them into the name but it did not load what they are showing..

its all about the coords at which you were spawned in.
can be very far from each other

The maps of the same seed at the same version of the game will always be the same.

Of course, you will only see already visited spaces on your own map, so you won't see a map you could compare to the one online. Also you will always spawn on an random location without a spawn point (bedroll and so on ...), so you won't see the same in front of you as of the screenshot online.

Attention is for seeds from older (or map-builder-modded) versions of the game, because if map building behaviour of the game gets changed, even the same seed will give another map then.

Capitalization and making sure you are typing it in correctly (1 vs I, 8 vs B, 0 vs O, A vs a) and spaces. Any variation will generate different terrain. As Seraphin stated, making sure you are using the same version of 7DTD they are as well.

Assuming one is using the same game version and seed name, this is most likely the issue Azure is experiencing.

When you start a new game, the game spawns you at random location within the map - there is the 0,0 point of the map, and the random spawn typically is within 2000 radius from that. May vary some, but the point is, it's a very large area where you can randomly be spawned. Fairly unlikely you're going to spawn in near the same point as someone else.

So if you're wanting to explore the same thing you saw someone else exploring, you need:

Same game version, same seed name, and the map co-ords of where/what they were exploring, so you can run yourself to the same spot.

WHen you start a new map set world to Random generated and then the gamename is the seedname
