Minibike Wheels - How to get them?

So I'm trying to complete my minibike, all I need are the wheels. Seems simple enough, right? I'm playing on the new Navezgane and went to Diersvill and tried to collect tires. Not a single drop. I have to assume they either removed the drop or my current profile or world is bugged. Before one of the hotfixes (still was during Alpha 14), I was able to get minibike wheel drops, one of the updates must have changed it or caused a bug.

Is there a certain tool that is most effective at farming them?

Usually just use a stone axe on them but I'm not sure it matters.

Junkyards, gas stations, and the "starter homes" (half burned out solo houses) are good places to find tires laying around.

Finally got some, after clearing one whole town and not getting a single drop. Traveled across the map and got some from the town up north west on Navezgane. Guess I was just having some pretty bad luck considering I had to chop about 30+ tires just to get one.

Really? i normally get good drops with tyres, shoping baskets and tyres are the easyest thing to get at a high quality (400+) early game from my experience too

I used the stone axe on the tire piles around one of the old wooden farmhouses. Didn't even realilze I'd gotten them for a couple hours.

you get minibike tires from tires on the ground? huh! here I was searching and scrapping hundreds of cars looking for them.

Yep, just use the wrench on any tires you see. It looks like it's just hammering it, but when you're done, you get a set of minibike wheels.
