Launch Error
Launch Error:
Error validating EasyAntiCheat code signing certificate.

I have MS Windows Vista OS and current version of 7DTD but it will not let me play the game because of this error. The game will not even start. No single player nothing.

Have you read this?

http://faq.easyanticheat.net/content/2/16/en/error-validating-easyanticheat-code-signing-certificate.html

Almost every time i've seen someone with this problem it was because Windows defender or another 3rd-party anti-virus \ firewall software was blocking it.

After reading the link above and making sure it's not being blocked by security software. Go into the 7DTD\EAC folder and run the EAC installer as an admin.

I should also note - If you're wanting to just play Single Player - you don't need EAC (and it's a waste of computer resources to use it) - you can just use the other launch option.

Thank you for the info doc. Unfortunately, I still get the same error. I read the page and ran the installer as an admin. it was getting an error but it is now working. However, 7DTD is still not playing and it has the exact same error message...

If you go to your library tab and right-click 7 Days to die, you should get the option to "run without AntiCheat"

Does it work then?

The only problem with that is that the server "Bowhunters Paradise PvE" requires the anti-cheat in order to play on it...

Yes it works now for single player or multi-player without the AntiCheat but coming back full circle the server I want to play on Bowhunters Paradise PvE requires the Anti-Cheat and the error message says "Error validating EasyAntiCheat code signing certificate." So then how do I get it to validate the code signing certificate or get a new certificate that can be validated so I can play the game? Does anybody know?

If anybody has any idea please share. I am hoping to get this resolved before the next patch this evening.

have you tried to run the game with your firewall and antivirus off?

also just read you need to restart your machine for the changes to take effect

I have rebooted machine many times. No I have not tried to runh it without any anti-virus protection I am pretty sure that would not be a good idea.

I am as paranoid as any but I have done this just to identify the issue. Then you can restart it. Reboot etc. If you can identify the AV as the culprit at least you know what you have to deal with.

edit: I have even changed AV software to clear up an issue where suddenly things became incompatible after an update.

Even with top of the line Norton Anti-Virus? I know other people with the exact same AV and they do not have any such problem... I could try that but I do not believe the AV to be the problem because it works just fine for others.

I am currrently using Avast due to incompatibilities with both Trend Micro which I started using as the product PC Cillin on 5.25" floppies. From them I used the extra liscense on nortons. third I tried avast and it was the only one that allowed the frequent read write cycles of the game in question.. It does not matter whoes antivirus it is or how good a product. This is a very dynamic environment.

All I say is boot up as normal. Get into steam. Then terminate your AV and see if you can get past the problem. It hurts nothing to try. Then restart your av and adjust your settings. But you cant fix the problem if you dont identify it.

edit: I too never had a problem.. until I did. Never figgured out the cause, just the cure. For my own situation.

No that did not help. I followed your instructions and even without Anit-Virus I continue to get the error message. I believe as the error message clearly indicates that the issue is related to the validation of the EasyAntiCheat code signing certificate. This leads me to believe that one or more of two options must be possible somehow: 1) Validating the existing code signing certificate or 2) replacing the existing code signing certificate with a code signing certificate that can in fact be validated. I also believe that surely I am not the only person that has encountered this issue... There has to be a fix or work around... Somebody please help me... Thanks

I think you are correct. I dont know how to reinstall a valid certificate though. There is the possibility the patch will fix it. ..and finally the Obligatory did you re-validate your game files? Sorry, s'all I got.
