Farming without sunlight ?
As title says is it still possible to grow plants without sunlight while using other sources of light ?

No, not at the current time.

Maybe grow lights are something the devs will eventually add...

You can farm underground. You need a shaft to the surface for sunlight though. Sun is required. You do not need water though, you used to but it has since changed.

Yes I know that but I wont bother making holes just for farms Im looking forward to grow lights !

Well its quite possible to make a modded version of the plants that will "grow" even without the light -> i know cuz ive made such mod for A12 but there wasnt much demand for it :D -> but if pusz came to shove i could make updated version for A14.7 if need be. Cheers

There isn't a way atm. The options are either sunlight is required or not required. Otherwise we'd have made growlights already. There isn't a way to make an item and have it generate "sunlight"

I don't even think it's possible with SDX to create an object that emits sunlight.

Yha, I poured through the xml files related to the plant blocks and no mention of sunlight. Even checked every other xml file that might be associated with it, and nothing. It must be an internal function that isn't controlled by the xml files.

Lol. That would be awesome, but I some how doubt they'd add grow lights. Maybe they'll give us an xml option for it in future updates.

It absolutely is. I've tried creating grow lights by setting the light value on new a light block class to be > 8 (which is, as far as I can tell, what the game uses to check the plant.growing blocks light situation....but it doesn't have the same effect.
