Tools and Repairs
Just wanted some opinions on if it would be better to just use my tools (axe, pick, shovel) till they break, junk them and rebuild them (since i can build them at a decently qaulity now) or if its better to just contiue to repair till it gets to poor quailty then junk and make new.

I recommend just scrapping broken tools if you are able to. I know sometimes you may be running a little low on forged iron/steel to remake them, so in that case it may be better to repair them. Once you get high enough level in the tools and have learned a level or two in The Fixer, it becomes easier to fix than to remake.

Hope this helps.

I use them until the point where I start getting an additional swing required to break wood/log/dirt and remake them.
I don't scrap them however, I toss them as is into the forge to reclaim 100% iron/steel.
I never repair axes/picks or shovels, not even quality 600's.
I do get fixer perk, but I use that for minibike/chainsaw/auger/weapon parts, for craftable tools however it's a loss of materials repairing even if you don't loose a single point of durability.
Until there's a patch that changes that or I install a balance mod I will continue to recycle tools.

You do know it requires far less resources to repair than to remake a tool, right?? Only takes 1 or 2 forged ingots to fix the picks and axes. So, if you're not losing a point at all from repairs...it would totally be cheaper to repair.

But I thought I was crystal clear on this;
You get 100% materials back when you melt them down in a forge.
So it will cost you 0 ingots to make a new axe/pick/showel/hammer.
If you repair them however you will need to spend 1-2 additional ingots ontop of crafting cost.

Sure, it takes less to repair them compared to making a new from scratch, but what do you do with the old tool? you forgot that in your math. It becomes +-0 compared to always - with repair.

And the XP is more for crafting a new one. XP is for how many items you use to craft...
New axe +10, repair +1 or +2.
And wood is cheap.
