What the heck, how do the zombies find me ?
All my troubles began when during the night i heard a scream.I was then flooded by zombies who took over my small base made of the 2nd upgrade level and protected by to layers od the 2nd upgrade level wooden spike.

SInce then there's been a lot of set backs to get back to where i were a few hours ago.I was digging a a trench around my original base then at 3 pm my stomach make some noise and then immediatly i was swarm by 4 zombies .I only had a mace because i lot my gun during THE raid.
I died a lot of times to get rid of those zombies. Now its night theres more zombies and now they run , my house doesnt has light the temperature was about 49 . I died once more.

Did they realy heard my stomach making noise ?

Its realy frustrating, am i wasting my time ? Is there some kind of bug i dont know ? Im new to alpha 14. I stopped playing when alpha 14 just came out.

edit: i think the biome im in is a swamp.

I'm kind of going through that right now, but i have a red moon going on, so they're way more feral. I decided to run away from my base and hide in the grass til this blows over. I just hope my chest is still there when i get back.

OK, so the red moon for me was day 7, so that's likely what happend to you.

@OP
If you've done a lot in that area/biome before, your heatmap may be high. That includes forges, campfires, killing zeds, and a lotta other stuff. Maybe somebody else will elaborate on it a bit further. But when your heatmap gets high enough, screamers can spawn. If they spot you, they will scream and summon more zeds with a good chance to get feral ones.

it's usually best to keep your forge/cooking area away from your main base, or where you'll be hiding at night.

I'm having the fun experience of having built a base right beside a very small pond. They can't get to me...I think, but they sure are making a ton of noise trapped under the water and digging really deeply under my base. My main concern is that:

1) They won't ever shut up.
2) They may actually make my base collapse into the water.

i cant work on my trench anymore. Theres always some zombie showing up .I cant have a few days off to work on my base to fight off the next red moon horde or even the regular nightly zombie attack than streach out to the day , slowing down everyhting im doing.

Hey...at least they let me pause to pee...it used to be even if you "paused" by hitting escape, it would play on anyway.

I didnt know about this. My first experience with this game was on public server ( colbot, cobalt?) , i thought it was a server thing to prevent us from fully pausing the game. I wish i could play alpha 13 with the updated zombies animation and texture wise.
roaming zombie hoardes will always head straight to where you "were" when they are spawned. If you spend most of your time in base then the hoard will obviously head towards your base, depending on your zombie settings you should not get more than 1 hoarde per day. To make it easier on yourself just make the days longer. Keep in mind it will make the nights longer too. In regards to pressing escape if the game pauses or not depends if you made a multi game or single game. Multi game will still not pause when you press esc. The best cheapo lazy build for early game is just lay like 5 rows of wooden spikes on every side it should buy you enough time to get your weapons to fight them off. I would recommend trying to use bows more than any melee, you should not die at all before day 7 unless you encounter dogs. which i believe is on every 5th day or if you travel to wastelands / city.

Are you on a server?

Make yourself a bow and some arrow asap. Stay ranged until you get yourself some better gear.

Don't bother with the log spikes, wooden spikes are the ones you want they do much more damage.

If you are on single player you can turn the running at night off and if you like, turn the difficulty down a little until you are used to everything. Just have a play around with your settings until you're happy with how they are.

1. You had the 7th day horde. That was what the scream denoted. They come every 7 days. That's why the game's called 7 Days to Die!

2. Screamers. Kill them FIRST. Every time they do that scream they summon even more zombies. Take them out asap.

3. Roaming hordes. Occasionally a few zombies will group and will pass through an area, making a "sort of" bee-line to your current location. They don't know where you are, unlike the 7th day horde. They just head in an approximate direction. They're easily avoidable unless you're making a load of noise. Digging, for instance.

This is what you should be looking for: The new screamer:

Watch his full videos if you have the time. He's one of the Devs of the game.

Just for everybody who's wondering... on a 7th (8th) day, during a BloodMoon.. the game "cheats" ....
any zed & horde on the map is heading your direction... doesnt matter where you are.. on top of a very high tower, or deep underground... they "know" you are there and will converge on the spot which is -YOU- , it doesnt matter if you are in your own "hotspot" or in a new place on the map where nobody went before :)

They will hang around and (re-)converge the whole time during the Bloodmoon. -Which is why there are so many of them still around when the moon sets.

And if you are spotted (or heard) or do something stupid like coming out of "hiding" to fight them, they will ALWAYS be dragged back to you... they even start digging...
You can sometimes even see that happening...: They wander off like they would on any other day.. but the game "pulls them back" to your location... it is kind of a rubberband effect, even more noticable when you are +40 days in and LOTS of feral hordes get spawned near your location.

On a bloodmoon, unless you are camping out very silently, very high or very deep or behind triple-thick steel walls... you are very likekly to become lunch :)

You can not swing fast enough or change clips fast enough to keep them at bay whne you are solo and unprotected.

It DOES make for some epic fights thou, if you are in a relative secure base with some friends and the "endless horde" effect kicks in... :) You only have to hope you have enough ammo, so you dont have to go melee. You'ld be amazed how fast you go through a 1000 rounds of 7.62 when the endless horde on/after a bloodmoon happens :)

they do not know exactly where you are anymore, that ♥♥♥♥ was taken out some time ago i have no idea why, LOL. But yeah, they turn semi feral so they can see through walls to a point, underground bases(bed rock) now will avoid the horde entirely. As long as your entrance is somewhere away from where you are hiding, as the zombies will just stop on top of where you were when the horde started. Ive tested this multiple times in current patch and have seen many streamers confirming the same thing. The horde is also comprised of specially freshly spawned zombies, not zombies from areas surrounding you. As each 7th day passes more zombies come, up to a 300-350 i think then it resets back to the first tier horde on the next 7th day.
