Deep water moat
Is it possible to have water deeper then one block?

I tried using frames to place the water on top of that, but as soon as you remove the frame, the water drops to the lowest point, and the water will be one block deep.

Yes, it is possible. You don't need frames.
1. Make a one block deep water layer covering the whole moat.
2. Try to make a second layer on the confining wall.
3. Place the water again and again at the same place. It will disappear several times but anytime the second layer will emerge.

So the trick is ignore the disappearing water blocks...
You will probably observe small waterfalls in your moat. Relogin to get rid of them.

FYI: Due to the motion capture used for the zombies they currently aren't slowed down when walking through water. This is a known problem according to Madmole and they're working on coming up with a solution that doesn't cause the zombies to animate stupidly.

Neither do zombies drown now. Sadly.

If they ever made zombies drown, that would about ruin the game...

if they ever made zombies drown "again" you mean :) I think that was a thing in the earlier Alphas. Same with falling damage. High falls would kill em too. That's why moats and pits were an effective defense early on. Now? ... not so much.

Dont remember zombies ever drowning personally...do you remember what alpha they could?

Not entirely sure, just going by snippets and word of mouth. I got in around A12 and by then it was already out

I think they were able to drown around Alpha 11, since that's when I bought the game and can remember them doing so.

Zombies not taking fall damage is more of a problem, but that was to do with their new limb dismemberment animations than anything else. Any damage is to their feet/legs which means they won't die from falling now.

Dogs still take full fall damage however, because they can't break up into pieces.
Animals take fall damage still too.

Been playing since A1 and I honestly cant ever remember them drowning, you sure they drowned in A11?

Can anyone confirm?

Just curious as I couldnt find much on it.

I'm playing 7dtd since A10 and I'm very sure that they never drowned in A10 and A11.
According to this discussion, it must be a version before A9:

Yeah, they should drown. Imo the modern zombie is not undead. It's a living human infected with a virus.

That discussion asks if they drown, no one confirmed they did, few said they dont, and it was mostly about if they should / if it makes any sense.

I must be mistaken then, but it's one of those times when I'm "sure" I rememberd them drowning. Faulty memory maybe?

I definitely remember them walking a lot slower in water because I used to kite them through the rivers bordering each biome for that very reason. Same with animals.

I have a fall pit around my base, and it kills most zombies just fine...
Only cops and upwards seem to survive, but with seriously reduced health.

50 block deep, with scrap log spikes at bottom.
