Once you log out or shut the game down, they get kicked out. Obviously, they can only log in when you tell em "hey, the game is up." The only thing you'll really need is a good solid connection. If you're hosting, you won't see any issues or lag really, but they will.
You can share waypoints, add friends to your allie list, and see their location on the map. Note, you do have to add them to the allies list in each game.
If you're playing and your friend joins your game, the days don't reset, so be sure to give him a headsup if it's night. Or just don't tell him and listen to him curse your name as the zombies tear him limb from limb :P
Yes. Turn persistent profiles on for that though, or with a different character people can log on as a new player each time if they change their profiles. Or do not if you want that open as an option.
