Will I be banned for using external mods from nexus? (HUD only)

External mods in multiplayer can be a possible reason to be banned because its a external script that retextures the game as it is, and as I am infromed external script,mods that change the game could cause a ban BUT it is a small thing and not a big game changer but you still have the chance to get a ban just because you made a external retexture so I would not reccomend it.

Hud mods will not work on a server unless the server itself is running the mod.

What Kami says is correct. When you play on a server it doesnt matter what xml files you've installed - it only uses the server xmls. For the most part. So unless the server installs that UI mod only then will you see it on the server. You can add it to yours all you want.

The majority of mods for 7DTD are xml-driven and perfectly safe to use. No worries of bans. At least for that.
