That seems a little complicated though doesn't it. All throughout the previous alphas it was so easy to spawn and play with friends - now suddenly it's not :/ Seems a bit backwards :/
Yes it does seem a bit overly complicated lol. Before the A9 release you could just right click on the map with debug enabled and it would teleport you. In A9 though, right clicking the map gives you a way point (which is awesome) but no direct teleport option.
It does help with immersion to have to seek out your companions imo, but if you're new to the game it can be really helpful to start near a friend.
There is an xml-file just for the spawning locations setting random spawns around Origin with a distance of 1000 units. But changing these lines has zero effect ingame (seems the spawn locs for random gen are hardcoded somewhere else - haven't worked since atleast a11).
One person claimed they spawned together if they all hit "JOIN WORLD" at the same time after a count down over voice chat. If that still works or not I can't say for sure.
We do this as well, I track Dom, Dom tracks Hashy and Hashy tracks me so we're all covered when split.
Just found out that you can actually hold left CTRL to bypass the setmarker tool and teleport in debug mode using the Map. Thanks everyone for the help.
