Boiling food
Can someone explain the benefit in boiling food, because Im reading the stats for boiled vs. grilled venison and the only thing that really changes is the smell range and all. Same health and hunger satisfaction and hydration decrease. Boiled requires a cooking pot and water. Grilled doesnt. All you need you is a grill (which is much easier to get than a cooking pot) and the meat.

Why would you boil anything?

Water needs boiling, or tea.
And you boil food when you havent been able to gather material for a metal grate.

The lower smell factor attracts less zombies. Pots are pretty easy to get, at least in our games they have been.

And sometime you can't find one but you find a lot of pipes...

The grill is a lot less useful then before... because the bottle can be use again.
The grill was a good thing to save some water if you wanted to eat
right after cooking or to put the meat in the chest but now...
it is really easy to get infinite water... It is now only usefull
if you can't find a cooking pot.

or if you are wanting to make bacon and eggs which is still one of the best foods and still has no smell.

Boiling is not the only thing you can do with a pot. With meat (Excluding pork, for pork is at its best boild) potatoes, water and corn, you can make a bowel of stew. The venisen and rabit stews are the only food that can give back the most hunger, thirst and health. The stew is better at healing you then a medkit or bandages. Grilling is alright if all you have is a grill, but in the long run, the pot is the best for making better foods to eat. Boiling is not all you do with a pot. But a pot is nessary for boiling stagnent bottle water to clean water. Boiling eggs is a great thing as well, they have the lest smell when boiled. 2 eggs and pork on a grill makes backon and eggs which is just as good but has more smell. Either way you choise, you must take one very important information into account, better the food, more smell it has, less smell, less of an effect in restoring you can expect. Some likes grilled, but that usualy gives off more smell. Smoe likes boiled for it gives off less smell but has less healing. It is totaly up to you how you go about your cooking, can ask others for steak when you want pork, dosent happen.

Oh yeah I know that a cooking pot is good for boiling water, what Im asking is why waste valuable water (at least its valuable to me in single player) when you can just grill and save the water.

I think boiled meat should have a better effect. Higher healing rate, hunger and lower dehydration (since boiled things are almost always juicer right?). Cause right now I grill all of my meat to save water.

That is fine. I myself like to make stew when possable for it can replace hunger, health and hydration better then any other food, med suplies and water. Grab some golden rod flowers, boil that with water for the tea, it doubles the hydration fill of water. Coffee loses some hydration effect but gives you a caffen buzz and that comes in handy when retreating from zeds and dogs chasing you. Coffee has helped me excape those pesky dogs on numurious occasions. Water is good, but in helping in survival, you need to sacrafice a few for better things. And like I said, water is good for hydration, but it's effect can be inhanced, depending on how you use it in cooking.

I think the boiled meat should restore hunger and hydration, just less than the stew. I mean, in a survival situation if you boil meat you're not going to dump out the water you used, you're going to drink it.

True, it would be nice to get something like broth from boiled foods for drinking or for other recipies.

i like char grilling my foods on a stick (use a stick instead of pot or grill)
but then again, my character lives mostly on stash chilli when he's out and about. i just use the meats when back at base.

boiling reduced the smell of the meat so zombies are less likely to notice you

This. imo remove their dehydration at least.

I only eat the cooked meats at base, never on the road. I save my canned goods for the travelling times. With the return of glass jars when the water is consumed there now should be plenty of water available to do with as you see fit, though be careful as some things do not return the jar when used.

The difference in using different cookware (stick, grill, cooking pot) for cooking meat is the smell range of the dish. :dgrasp:
In the chapter cooking of my guide you can find a complete list what you can cook:
