They have a very limited view and at least for shotguns, you hit your own arrow slits while shooting through too. This may not be the case for other guns or bows, but then again, there's still the very limited view.
Very smart....
You just reminded me lol
Hey OP just wondering. Are you using the new drawbridge for your setup?
ON TOPIC: Even though I like the idea I'm not really sure if it would be a good idea or not. Like what Serephin said about the shotgun (Friendly fire on own block) and the very narrow space to shoot from. I have to agree a little on that one.
i'm unsure yet what the final design will look like. i just know i want a reinforced concrete wall that is 5 blocks high. i may do a kill area door trap which leads to a wall with the draw bridge (if that is in the game as i have not seen it yet). another idea would be to use the draw bridge to drop a large group of zombies into a spike pit.
I can loot through mine just fine.
Maybe but then you lose more vertical sight through them. Which is why they were so effective in the first place. IMO thats more important for looting and shooting crawlers. If you need more horizontal vision. Use more arrow slits all along your wall. Or as above, use Pillar 50's (I dont know if cop spit affects you through those, though, even though it counts as a full block)
Not true - (TO OP) you can craft Concrete arrow slits then upgrade them all the way to reinforced steel. They have the exact same hitpoints as the regular blocks of the same type. But let you shoot through them. I use them 2 high, vertical alignment, on all walls around my base and pillar 50's on the corners.
I knew I wasnt the only one!
i knew it was wrong as i threw a wooden one down in my coop game with some friends, and it took up the block space. my friends told me it weakened the wall, so i shouldn't use them. disbelieving them, i posted this thread to see how they work for other people.
the idea to do a 2 high verticle alignment is really good. if i get some free time this week and am not just reading comments through college work, i'll start building ,and i may post a video of the final product in a couple weeks.
Thank you. I hope it brings you as much success as it has brought me. Happy hunting!
Edit: better if you can reach the lower one with a ramp (so you control height a bit more).
