How to Host Experimental Build on Dedicated Server?

Might want to host experimental on my dedicated box, but the server files I have are for 14.7

Where would I get the 15 build from? I dont have the game on the other pc, just the server files for the dedicated server. Thanks!

I know that 15 is not out yet. I am asking now, so Ill know how. But ok, 14.8 How to install that on my server? The server files are for 14.7 I see no option to install experiemental builds on my server.

You would just use SteamCMD and add "-beta latest_experimental" to the app update. (I think the appid is 294420)

edit* It will depend on how the experimental is actually written. It might be "-beta latest_experimental-unstable" - you'll just need to copy whatever it says in the beta-branch file properties in the steam GUI and put that into the command line.

Example:

app_update 294420 -beta latest_experimental-unstable

As a fairly new owner of a dedicated box thank you guys for explaining this away so easily. It really does help us that are still learning how all this Stcmd stuff works

I think it is:

At least that installed it for me. Now to get it to work...

Trying to set up 15 exp but when I connect I get version mismatch anyone help with that? I have doubled checked multiple times that it was updated proper and this is a fresh install not an old server. It is running the new server confimed that. Ports are all properly open as I am getting the mismatch version message.

Please help. I have come to the end of what I know to look for.

Yeah that installed it for me just fine. But now my game and the server wont agree. LOL. Game says my server is running 14 but server says no we are running 15 like OMG LOL

Delete all existing server files before you use steamcmd to update it.

Yeah that is just what I did. I installed the server from nothing. I looked through the files and found evidence of the server infact running 15. Though I am not sure if that was infact reliable. Really new to running a dedi box. This is a learning experiece for me.

Also I followed the instructions in the wikki for Steam Cmd copy pasting all so to ensure no errors.

hum have you changed anything in the config files? Recommend if you did then revert back to your backup of the original. The server shutting down can be from that. I have run a 7d server but first time with expermental

I did make changes to some 100% normal values I always change except for possibly the new PvP/PvE config. Will try with the default, thanks.
