character classes
Would totally enjoy being able to pick through default characters wth mroe variance than just their looks.

Examples
You picked the strong man: starts with 10 in blunt weapons and 1 in t-rex sex
You picked the smaller faster guy: starts with 10 archery and 1 in run forrest run

etc etc

is this coming?

no

Then how would a custom character work? Just pick the boosts you want? Seems unnecessary as 10 skill ain't much.

No please, we don't need to go back to the 90s CRPGs!
If you want classes go play D&D. ;-]

Well, there are mods for that.

But 7DTD might see something like that officially at some point.

Yes both Valmar's Overhaul mod and True Survival mod have professions that make a noticeable difference to your game start.

I have tried and recommend both mods but they are not compatible with each other.

I agree on the professions but then i dont agree with some mods that restrict your character crafting abilities based on those . Mean were humans ... we have brains ... we can use those to learn things that we dont know . So i dont get why some crafting options would be locked just by choosing profession.

I think can have one more skill that's bare hands.

when you get grasses with bare hands get xp points to upgrade bare hands skill's ability^^

Cool, sounds like while it might not be coming next patch there is definitely something similar coming down the road.

Thanks Valmar.

In this mods you can learn/find everything. Nothing is locked. It's just a question how you start.

Could help early game, but its almost useless and wouldnt really add much.

Just to clarify while the mod does have professions they are not "exclusive". Your profession only determiens what you start with, knowledge-wise. It doesn't prevent you from learning everything else. You can still be a master of everything. Lol.

For me its more about a sense of realism and immersion as the game starts to flesh out its RPG side now.

Welp.

I know from experience in real life you can't be great at everything.

If the game is angling for "realism" then this would be one way to get there.

I'm not a big fan of realism in a game with zombies but it might add some interesting choices.

If this were a feature i'd want the benefits to far outweigh the consequences though.

Sounds a bit like a Fallout type character system.

*reads further down that thread*

...I sure hope they don't take the "zombies never run" options setting completely away. Not a fan of running zombies in general.
...I do find the zombies running when in shadows (during the day) interesting. Saw a mod that had that - I wasn't around when it was part of the vanilla game.

I definately hope we see that again. I vaguely remember Madmole saying something about possibly wanting to bring that back in one of his Q&A vids. Whether we actually see it or not though... It was always fun because those dark factories were actually pretty terrifying. I mean, it was pitch black in parts so torchlight was all you had and out of nowhere zombies just came charging out of the dark. Yeah you can just fire a gun outside and make them come outside into the light, but even so. 100% would vote to see it return.
