Bedrock elevation
What's the (14.7) elevation for bedrock?

My game keeps telling me it's +3m but someone else today was saying it was -57

*confused* :D

+3m is wrong, of that I'm sure. Can't remember the exact depth for bedrock, maybe -57m could be right since the overall depth should be from -60 to +60.

-57 m. I`ve always found it there.

Hm...I've never altered any of the biome/elevation stuff in the .xml's. I think I tried altering the temperature scale once (less hot at lower elevations, that type of thing)

I just thought they'd changed something because of the way they did water a while back (to create lakes again).

Strange. Hm.

Blocks 0, 1, 2 are bedrock. -57 m is the value shown in the inventory/map. So 3 m is just another coordinate system.

I mean the rating you see on the map.

Says +3M but others are saying it should say -57m

Guess it's time to verify files again.

Postscript: I think I recall another time a patch-update did something similar with stat numbers for me, before I'd verified files. But I verified when I did 14.7. Odd. Who knows.

I noticed that bedrock is much shallower than it used to be. Might be to stop people evading hordes by going way underground.

The devs said that they want players to engage and defeat the 7 day hordes instead of just hiding or running away from them. Shallower bedrock may be part of this. I am not sure if A15 includes hordes not despawning but that is a planned upcoming feature.

That depends on the biome and map seed but I don't think so. The avarage thickness of the "earth's mantle" is still ~60 blocks.

I used to underground-base all the time - not always bedrock, but same effect. Got boring tho so most of the time I do above ground now. Which is also getting a little old, so now I move around more and more. Still not a live off the land type tho. I like hording stuff too much.

But yeah, while I think one should be *safer* underground, I don't think one should be always be invulnerable that way. I don't want z's to make swiss cheese out of the map either, tho. Hopefully they'll figure something out.

Locking this Necro as the data between the current version the version back in 2016 is very different.
