deer, pig, rabbit, chicken thoughts/questions
Okay, I'm nearly to day 30 and alll of a sudden game has become almost non existant. Is it because my area is hunted out, weather, etc?

Also, if I can find chicken eggs why can't we hatch our own and build a coop. we have corn feed.

Same for pigs. Why not catch a pair and use them as a sustainable food source?

Gardening, can we do it in a house or build a greenhouse?

I saw the thread with the next build info adding a new bear look and other things as well as power but

In the spawning.xml it loks like the respawn delay for animals in a particular biome is 15 days;

<!-- JOEL: change "respawndelay" to world days, change "maxcount" to entities per area -->
<spawn maxcount="1" respawndelay="15" time="Any" entitygroup="AnimalsAll" spawnDeadChance="0" />

Now; how it works exactly, I do not know.
That may apply to an entire biome, if it's completely hunted out, or a default refresh rate for animals. You may have to check adjacent biomes for more game to hunt.

Even after I've hunted lots of deer and pigs, there has still been a number of chickens and rabbits, that I have a hard time spotting in grassy areas.

YES I WANT A CHICKEN FARM!
That is a great idea bacon and eggs has a reallyn great wellness to fullness ration but i can never find enough eggs.
But for long term food i usally use corn bread. No smell, easy production and high stack in backpack

If you will hunt every day in one direction of your base (or only arround your base) than the spawn rate will fall. About the 15 I can't say anything - but it seems to be exactly what we had seen. After one week of hunting there was nothing left...
But biomes are not so big, so you can walk easily in your next hunting area.

He had mentioned that eventually they will be working on being able to domestic the animals. I'm guessing this will involve the pigs and chickens.

well on the feed I saw for 16 they mentioned saddlebags for animals and domesticating them. I just don't want to see it turn too much into ARK.

I'm looking at resonable ideas for the chickens etc. Maybe even a horse or two since we have farms.

Still, I'd be happy to just have the pigs and chickens.
