@Hell i did forget about that haha
as for the other points, they are adding raiders in A21, not to mention as hardware evolves so will peoples capabilities to handle the game better. the Devs already do a good job with allowing players who are capable, handle more. such as 64 count of zombies at a time.
I wanted to have that Fallout 4 feeling with a few settlers trying to survive in a base. A settler and follower system would be pretty cool for single player and co-op with a group of friends.
Speaking of Fallout 4 though, if you haven't tried it, OP, I'd recommend giving that a try. It doesn't have the same feeling as this game, but you can mod it to come somewhat close. There's a mod to turn all non-human enemies into feral ghouls and a mod to turn those ghouls into shambling zombies. then a mod to build anywhere. etc. Then there's mods to recruit any NPC as a follower.
But yeah, thinking about this game's gameplay, I don't know if a follower would really work. It might, but I don't know. I think having NPCs walk around your base/settlement if you have one would be interesting.
I wish the auto turrets could hold more than 3 stacks of ammo. I had like 12 or 15 of em around a base....the ammo lasted a few minutes then I had to keep running around resupplying them.

It's working nicely. Once you install the core mod, it can be customized via expansion packs with different types of characters. For now I just have the S-Core and NPC-Core packs, which are both required.
I have only hired one NPC so far. He did have a "Follow" option, as well as "Stay" and "Patrol". He got pretty beat up following me so I put him in the kitchen. He was already wearing the gear.

I have encountered several others but didn't have the funds to hire them yet.

I also fed a little dog which offered to Follow or Hunt and had an inventory despite having no backpack.
I chose the "Play in this Area" option and he was in the yard a few doors down when I got back several hours later. Good boy!

Once I am better established and learn the system I will see how well they defend.
Looks really great, i hope this is added in a future update.
