How to get more skill points via console

There is no skill points add command but I was a few skill points short after completing the quests so i did this:

givequest quest_BasicSurvival8

This will give you the last quest chain (build a fireplace) and then find a trader. I spammed this outside the trader fort to get the 24 skill points I needed. Those 2 quests give you 3 skill points.

Another fun fact if a spotlight is not working when you warp into a SP game you can shoot it to turn it on. I have a couple around my base that turn on this way. Also I love having the power plant as a base! :)

You can use the giveselfskillxp command. You have to put the full name as it appears in the skill list with capitols and a large amount, such as

giveselfskillxp Light Armor 10000

You can only do one level at a time, and have to repeat the command by pressing up enter 99 more times to max though :s

This works on all perks even the special ones, as long as you have the prerequisite.

I realize this is a long necro, but since this is going to come up in searches as it did for me, I will add this does not seem to work in the A16 experimental build.

It just states that the quest does not exist.

I really was hoping it would work since im just playing SP and jerkin around, but the skill point gating is going to be rough solo once one gets into the 30s

Thanks, I appreciate that. I'm probably going to start mod shopping since the single player experience is a little too stressful for me. This is definitely a great start, so thanks!

Try lowercasing the quest name:

Im doing this for my skills but some skills wont let me do it like gun smithing and weapon smthing. I tried "giveselfskillxp Weapon Smthing 10000" but i cant get it to work

Setting aside that you misspelled smithing, and necro'd a thread from several patches ago, I think you have to purchase weapon smithing. There is no xp for that skill.

ye the things you need to do yourself are the 6 first skills up to Misc Crafting, you need Steel Smithing, Concrete Mixing, Workbench, Handguns and Machete Crafting. That's all (i think) you may be able to get Workbench and Concrete mixing by spelling it weirdly, not too sure, chances are you'll just have to unlock it. Can type giveselfxp 10000000 till level 200, you'll have a ton of points to mess around with, 1194 points in total I think. The first 6 things take you down to 500 so use em carefully.
