Waiting for Steam verification...

I can't join any games because it hangs on "Waiting for Steam verification..." -- is there any way around this? I've already turned off UAC, I do have internet, etc

Open the 'Platforms.cfg' file and delete the 'EOS' from the line; CrossPlatform=___
Then save the file. This will bypass the EOS server id checking so it just defaults to your steam ID. It may resolve this hang-up issue.

Have you tried doing an uninstall and clean re-install as directed in this thread;

Should also do the launcher tools cleaning of old data.
Then disable EAC and Analytics from the launcher.
Start a SP game to test afterwards and be sure your PC is having no trouble running the game. Try joining a server afterward and if you're still having issues, post the details as directed in this thread;

i shouldn't have to do that every single time I update the version, not to mention we did update, we did a local play server, it worked the first time for invite, the second time stuck on Waiting for Steam verification, those instructions are also now outdated, and do not work with the current steam client.

Sept 2024, having the same issue with friends. First invite works, after that if they wanna play they need to clean install the game to get in. Can't find a reason why.
