Day 6, infection 70%, honey is not spawning?

Is there a glitch in honey spawning in stumps, or is it normal to not find any after entire days of searching, 50+ stumps no honey, so I gave up and started running quick missions in hopes of getting antibiotics in rewards (so far none, and none for sale either).

It's making for an interesting first week for this run. Now I can't use new Skill Points due to the infection reducing Stats.

I like the little base I made so far in this one, but I prefer playing One Death/Restart so if the infection kills the character it's sayonara.

No this is not normal, I would say you had a lot of bad luck. Spawnchance is 20% if I remember correctly.

I find more than enough honey in just the random tree stumps I search that happen to be in my way. Without even going out and specifically looking for stumps. So I don't seem to have any glitch in my game.

Aside from tree stumps, trader Jen often has several jars in stock for something like 240 dukes each.

btw - If your game is working properly, the probability of not getting a jar of honey in 50 consecutive tree stumps is about 1.4 in 100,000 .

Sounds like you have some broken mods installed or maybe using an old save from a previous version?

honey only cures, what 5% or 10% anyways.. so if you are at 70% infection you got bigger problems lol

I did a playthrough one time where I spent easily 10 days infected, and probably went through at least a -50% worth in infection healing supplies to get that far.

My advice? Do missions for traders. There is a reasonable chance you'll get antibiotics or herbal antibiotics as a reward, and if you do, you almost always will get more than just 1.

I had a game not long ago on the 6k Pregen map where this happened to me. Luckily, I had plenty of honey and antibiotics saved up from finding them in medicine containers. But I'd go through around 30 stumps before finding any honey in them. I theorize that certain seeds effect drop rates of certain resources. So while honey has a base chance of 20%, some other value in the seed is reducing it further.

it feels like the death punishment (unless you are playing dead is dead rules) is weak anyway. Just die at your base, chop down 10 trees, build 100 or so wood frames and upgrade them. Your XP penalty is erased in 1.5minutes, congrats!

very much this, won't be every mission but when they do give meds its usually in batches of 3.

No mods, and it's a newer Random World in A20.

That's normally how it is for me too, and even in the same Pregen World I'm in now, I did not have this bad a run seeking The Honey.

I spent all of Day 6 chasing after stumps again, still nothing.

Now it's Day 7, infection is 80%. I've completed about 6 or 7 quests with no antibiotics.

I'll take the suggestion to try and find a Pop n Pills today. But IME those never have antibiotics in them. And of course will check the Trader again.

Yeah but I like playing Permadeath, so if this character dies of infection, I will start over.

If you are having trouble getting antibiotics as a choice for quest rewards, a point in daring adventurer really helps.

With antibiotics being a fairly common t1 reward, having 3 chances instead of 2 boosts your chance noticeably.

Thanks, I took that advice. But died to a random zombie dog while clearing out a POI for that quest reward. When you're 82% infected, Stamina is at severe penalty. Could not run away or fight beyond a certain point. Almost nerdpoled to a roof, that was the only way - but the dog jumped right up on the first stack, and then I started running out of stamina.

RIP to that game

I had a similar experience in A20 but not playing permadeath, got killed with around 40% infection. Soon as I respawn, there is an airdrop so I hunt it down and it has 2 antibiotics in it.

This reminds me starting a game recently. I spent a little more than 2 in-game days (aka 2 to 3 hours) even traveling around at night time looking for stumps and getting very upset that I didn't find a honey before the 5% mark, I had literally cleared out 2 of those Honey POIs with 0 Honey LOL.

I figured it was gonna be easy because the first mod I found was an 8x scope and I quickly made a Pipe Rifle and slapped it on there.

Stumps don't come into view until you're like what, 15 meters from it... I would find so many stumps using my scope cuz I would look left and right every so many meters of traveling through a forest so my range of spotting them was larger.

I calculated I found around upper 20s of stumps and I had found 2 honeys but never in time, I was literally just constantly holding down the W and scoping my way through forests, finding stump after stump with no honey at all... RNG Gods were playing a joke on me I swear every stump I sorta laughed.

I found the one that saved me in a garbage bag near a gas station when I felt like giving up and starting a new world. I don't mess around with infections any more, I prefer to save my honey for making Grandpa's Recipes in late game.

Is honey in the new update just supper rare?

so me and my friend started a new game a bit after the update and we got infected. started looking for honey winch before used to take like max 10 minutes to find but literally found none for hours. like real life time. When we did finally find one or two our infection was so high it was practically useless. We literally had to start a new world with the cheat window enabled just so we could spawn in honey and then quit out, disable cheats and play. it may be cheating but we where on day 4 on our non cheat one with like nothing spending days looking for a honey... did they change the drop rate of honey or is this a bug? cuz if they did its way too low. Either the drop rate needs to be upped or how many logs are around needs to like triple. I also think there needs to be a better way to get honey then looking for logs or the very rare find in a store shelf. like why are there no bee hives? or like the little honey stalls? why do they never have honey in them? why do they exist

put down a sleeping bag, store all your stuff if you have drop everything on death, then eat alot of glass
