first gyro copter controls are a mess
is ther an easy way to control this thing or a way to control my pitch with mouse movements or is this just gunna be something that takes lots of practice?

It does take practice. I found it much easier to fly with a controller. And even easier when I mapped the left stick to pitch up and down (much more intuitive than C and space).

The controls are fine. (Well, after you map them to whatever is comfortable for you anyway. What I mean to say is the handling on the gyro is fine.) I can't see it taking more then a few minutes practice. And I don't think there's an easy way to use the mouse for pitch. But mouse is used for freelook. Seeing as that would disable your ability to look around, especially down, while flying, one would think that would be an extraordinarily bad idea anyway

wish you can control with mouse, but just takes practice, since i dont do creative mode, or use the prefab editor, i keybind my descend button to b, but changing the keybind of the descend helps with gyro alot, since it can be control using the thumb,
i suggest spacebar to ascend, and 'button you keybind' to descend for the thumb, it can be alt, c, v, b, n depending on size of the hand.
Also pressing f7 while flying keeps you from pressing e, to fall to your death, it hides the hud so you got to navigate blindly, or press f7 to readjust your travel.

thx i was thinking that. due to the tpye of base im building my helipad is small and inside a mountain so if i wanna keep my entrance clsoed off im using the 5x3 door i need to be able to thread the needle a bit... edit as was looking into the controls a bit after other buddy said sumthin i dun see remaping for the controller just change between two diff types am i missing a button for remaping? or is it already set for optimal

hmm im looking at the vehicle control menue and it seems o only be for ground cars and such do i just map the hop for decent and adjust with my bike?

yah, basically, the hop is the decent so just have to get use to it. wish it was a new keybind to descend

ok ill try both remaping and the game pad see what i like more . tho honestly my perfect remap would take advanted of my mouses extra buttons and id set it so mouse controls pitch and i click and hold m4 at my thumb for free look, i have stationeers set up similar m4 for free cursor makes that game so much nicer

Yeah Gryocopter controls are a mess. I actually can't use it at all because of the oddball keymapping.

ok ive remaped pitch up and down to thumb buttons on my mouse and i like it lot more.
yea ill be sticking with these controls amasine what a difference bad keymapping can do

Once your figure out the keys.... its just a matter of gently tapping the keys for a safe control.

after an hour on creative and a few death yea figured it out. now just gotta figure out how feasible my hidden helipad is

Once you understand that a Gyrocopter will just go straight no matter the body's entire rotation ignoring physics then it's just matter of keeping the gyrocopter centered in the air lol.
As for landing just put it close on land and exit should stop it's momentum

gyrocopter has momentum (all vehicles do but it's far less important). it also flies on principles similar to an airplane rather than a helicopter. keep those things in mind and just practice some more. also, when taking off it's easy to go nose up so don't hold onto the up button like your life depends on it.

Its really easy once you get the hang of it. While your learning you may want to eat the no fall damage candy.

Controls seems the same for me between alpha's. It does take some getting used to though. I tend to level it out in a specific direction and flight level before turning on free mouse look to take in the scenery in a sort of auto-pilot like flight. (Not perfect mind you)

Practice practice practice.
