Spear attributes/perks?
Hi guys, I'm still a newbie. I really like the versatility of spears as a melee, and I was wondering what other skills/perks help increase spear use aside from Javelin Master and the books. Thanks in advance for the help. :D

Perception is generally a co-op tree - rarely used in single player. Well lockpicking right now, salvage is always good and even one point in explosives is great.

No other skill works with spears, even not flurry from AGI tree. Only obvious SexRex.
Spears are generally weakest melee available.

It has the longest reach, but its hitbox is still wide enough to hit blocks if you make stabbing holes to poke from inside a base.

Thrown spears shows up on the compass to track, so throwing it at a animal that flees will see the location of them to track.

At max level, spears would work with stealth builds.
At night zombies at 5% won't even notice you.

And throwing spears makes less durability loss than melee weapons in terms of power attacks.

It's possible to add a fire mod so you can burn enemies with it on fire?

A buff could be giving Penetrator perk to Spears to pierce through multiple targets, with regular attacks or thrown. If it kills, it keeps going.

Awright guys, thanks for the info! :D I'm not totally dedicating to the Perception build altogether anyway. It may seem inefficient, but I wanna focus more on strength and fortitude, and just get Javelin skills. Sledges are definitely an alternative since they help break down doors.

Wait... why do You want to break doors?

I just like the feeling of destroying a locked door with a sledge, excuse me for my barbarism lol.

Ok since you said that you are a newbie.
Every quest building have a designed route. Follow lights.
Yeah, smashing things is also fun :)

Most will tell you the spear isn't the choice for a favorite weapon. I felt pretty let down about it the first time too but I went to the club and it's farrrr better. They will say sledge is awesome too.
Im sure the spear does work when in the hands of someone pro, but with learning the whole game I would recommend a weapon that has an actual power swing over spear throw

Perception tree is great for Explosives, and Sniper. Spears are kind of a not so great weapons. They may be the worst melee weapon in the game. Though they sure aren't the hardest starting out (Brawling would be that) if you ask me. I've already tried brawling in a20 on insane.

Pipe rifle/hunting rifle are really bad though, you go from a gun with 1 bullet clip....to gun with 1 bullet clip... Lever action rifle (formarly called mark rifle) is when it starts taking off.

Salvage is money, money.
Lucky looter is a total lying description. It just ups your lootstage and looting speed

Treasure hunter may actually be a negative to take. You will fight more zombies because the yellow circle will shrink rapid fast.

Lockpicking...well it exists. 1 point is good for lockpick crafting

The Penetrator can be nice

The Infiltrator is pretty useless, you can commonly find a book so walking on landmines never sets them off and just...a20 in general to me seems to have VASTLY fewer landmines, specially in wasteland.

Animal Tracker, is unneed in a20, animals are ultra common. But still useful if you struggle with meat.
