Biomes and base locations?
The loot stage thing has me wondering, about base location for general missions and looting.

Horde raids in most places I have taken a raid, seem to yield pretty general stuff in the loot bags, but looting and mission rewards in tougher biomes for general play, seem on average much better.

Considering leaving my raid base in the forest biome, and my general mission base in the winter or desert biomes.

Do you guys see a difference? Or just put both in the same biomes? Certainly not putting one in the wasteland YET lol. That place has gone from hard, on Survivalist, to really difficult to survive in at night, at best.

The winter biome is probably the best biome.

Almost the best loot bonus
Tons and tons and tons of meat
No infinite zombie spawns at night
No vultures
Water is never a concern
Tree stumps stand out

But if your lucky you can find a trader near the edge of the wasteland and live just outside it.

Okay I will take that suggestion. STARTING to just amass mats for building and more. I'd like better loot takes overall. And since Day 28 Horde just ended, I got time.

If you don't want to slower pace of the Forest, I would agree with the above.

Yah for now the Wasteland is still too hard if you get caught by a mob. Ferals galore day or night, and at night, if you trigger a wandering horde, an autospawn seems to start and they will tear the entire POI down to get to you lol xD I found it like getting caught out in a blood moon raid.

Its pretty epic and really makes you work your sneak skills.

My crafting base and horde base are both in the Forest. The crafting base however is on the border of the Wasteland where i will do daytime quests in the Wasteland. The snow biome is a short motorcycle ride to the north and the desert (for oil shale) is to the east.

I just think your home base looks better in the Forest. The Wasteland is pretty ugly. Thats just my own preference though.

You don't really get better loot in the Wasteland and Snow you just get it sooner. I just looted the Auto Shotty schematic from the Forest.

Have pretty much all the end game loot now. Auger, Chainsaw, Cruicibles. Just need an M60 now or it's schematic.

I'm at day 45. Zero deaths. Warrior difficulty

Wasteland is where the treasure is. With our looter having Lucky Looter, Looting Googles and enough Eye Kandy, even before Day 7 you can reach a loot stage high enough to find some decent guns, perk books and other goodies doing quests in the Wasteland.

I havent found ANY Looting Goggles omfg >.< Day 32 and I stll havent found a shotgun, or enough parts to make one. I have found a grand total of ten acids in all my wandering lol.

Looting is odd here.

Hah yeah I'm day 25 in my current zero-INT run, and between 5 local traders I haven't gotten enough MG parts to make an m60. Frustrating because I found the schematic early and am actually putting points in fortitude, so of course the RNG is gonna have a laugh at my expense...

I play on navezgane and spawn near to trader jen which is right next to wasteland biome (while trader itself is in forest biome)

After setting up a starter base and get a decent gun i just start doing quests in the wasteland it is very conveinet

Agility is key to survive any zombie game so invest in it and you will be fine surviving in wasteland even up to warrior difficulty (haven't tried difficulty above warrior so can't talk about them)

I thought the lucky goggles worked for treasure only, bringing the block rate radius down? New for A 20 or always has been? Maybe I just misread the description?

It does both, it'll reduce dig raidius by 1 and also add something like +3-5 to looting. Been like that since A17 or 18

I like the desert. Slightly higher loot stage than the forest, and it's actually an easier biome to survive in due to there being no wolves or bears.

Also easier to clear a nice empty space around your base for sight lines. Easy to see most bird nests due to less grass and trees. Easy to get sand, oil shale, etc.

Only real drawback is wood is a bit more rare, but you're going to start a tree farm anyway of course, so kind of moot. Water is still easy to come by. Heat is honestly easier to deal with than the cold you have to deal with in the forest. Yucca is everywhere and is free food (Granted, each yucca fruit is only like +1 hunger, but it's literally free and you'll fill multiple chests with it if you actually keep all of it that you find). Rabbits and chickens are easy to see. Coyotes are wimpy sources of meat that actually come to you.

It's just the best place in the early game, IMO.

Mostly agree, except for the 1 small detail you left out :)

The damn birds. They're such a nuisance, I hate having to jump off the bike all the time to deal with them and I'm not good enough to time my swings every time vs their bobbing up and down that I miss often enough to get injured periodically and at night it's even worse. But other than that, I agree with all your points!
