Slow Loading
The game takes a rather long time loading, to the point where It is a chore to start the game up, it takes about 5 minutes for the game to actually load, and then another 5-7 minutes to load a Navezgane map.

People will probably tell me that it might be because of my specs, but it loads games like Conan Exiles within seconds and the map within a minute or a half. With not a single FPS problem whatsoever at high quality graphics settings.

This game however loads slow and has a tendency to stutter or have slight fps drops here and there, on LOW graphic settings.

Conan is not a FULLY DESTRUCTIBLE VOXEL WORLD.

Specs. List them.

Like above, are you running 7 Days to Die on an SSD? That helps alot with stutter and load times

Some might indeed say that ... if you had actually listed your specs. :steamhappy:

A handy excuse for every memory, lag or slowness issue, " this is a voxel game". Minecraft is a voxel game, too. Why does it load faster?

At this rate I think we can forget the "does it run crysis" meme. Lets change it to "does it run 7d2d", come on.

But yeah, to the OP: this game runs slower than other games. Deal with it. Check the recommended specs for computer and make sure you're using SSD.

My machine is over 8 years old, doesn't use SSD, my main drive crashed last year so I use an external USB 3.0 drive as my main boot and OS drive (so my 7DTD worlds are on it in .local/share) and the game loads off the remaining drive that came with the machine, now also more than 8 years old and from Play to playing is IDK like 2.5 - 3 minutes tops (worst case), for a 10K world too!

Please take a look at the Pinned Troubleshooting thread for workarounds and fixes. If you still have an issue, then please read the Pinned thread on How to Report an Issue, and follow the instructions.

If you are on a20, be sure to wipe all data from previous versions and try a new map with a new seed you have not used previously.

...if one is still using a 5400rpm HDD and an older/"outdated" laptop combo, I would imagine that might be painful with this game. I don't know that for sure, but it's what I imagine.

...7200rpm HDD wouldn't be as bad.

...even off my 970Pro SSD (most games are not installed on my nvme ssd and I doubt that would make much difference anyway) + 9900k cpu, initial loading into an existing save usually takes some 30-40 seconds I think. Brand new start game a little longer. It's not like it's near instantaneous.

Ah I see thank you for your many replies, I failed to specify my specs, mainly because I have absolutely no clue about anything related to computers... So I don't actually know how to find my own specs, and I wouldn't know what specs are important in the first place :steamhappy:

I was simply confused because I could not find anyone else mentioning this problem (don't quite remember how much I checked for it though)
and was just hoping that there was some sort of easy fix xD.

Here's your 'easy fix';

I'm joking of course. There's no REAL 'easy fix' when it comes to PC gaming unless you're fairly computer savvy.....which I suspect you're not since you don't know how to find your PC specs. Btw, there's a tool in your windows programs under Windows Administrative tools called 'System Information' which will give you details on your PC.
Things ppl want to know are;
CPU
RAM (memory)
GPU--Graphics Processing Unit or 'Video Card'
Type of hard drive being used for C:--either traditional Hard Drive or Solid State Drive (ssd)

7d2d always loaded very slow. It is because of poor optimization and has nothing to do with your specs. It will not even use all of your resources to load it is just junk in that department. On the plus side it will run good once it does finally load even on a potato.

Near the top/left of your Steam window click "Help", then in that menu click "System Information" which will open a window with most/all your computer specs.
You can right-click inside that window and choose "Copy All Text To Clipboard", then rightclick here and click "Paste" to paste all the info here.

If you don't play a lot of random multiplayer servers for 7Days, you can speed up the boot-time (starting the game and getting into the menu) by turning EasyAntiCheat OFF. If your computer is pretty slow, this can easily speed up the game's start-time by a couple minutes.
Click the large PLAY button in your Steam Library and select "Open Launcher" instead of "Start Playing"...this will open a small window with a handful of extra options where you can Uncheck/Turn-OFF EasyAntiCheat...then click "Run And Save As Default" at the bottom/right.

The only problem with this is that some open/public multiplayer servers for 7Days will demand EAC be turned-on to join. So you'll have to turn EasyAntiCheat back on if you want to join those servers. You can see a little icon marking which servers want EAC on and which ones don't care...and you can specifically search only for MP servers that don't demand EAC if you want as well.

Depends on map size for me as far as the length of time it takes to load into a game. If it's 10k, takes about ~1-2 minutes. Navezgane, 6k, & 8k maps are decently fast.

Overhaul mods will take a bit longer sometimes. Especially Undead Legacy since you can literally pick up any objects and place them elsewhere in the map. It'll take me several minutes on a long running UL game to load in, even on a 8k map.

For comparison:
i9-9900KF 3.6 GHz, 64gb RAM, ASRock Z390 Pro4, game installed on Intel 1TB m2 SSD, RTX 2080Ti 11GB

welp it finally loaded but i get 4 fps

lowest graphics settings
vsync off
fullscreen or windowed

sent their support an email

I mean its $6 so my expectations were pretty low to start, but I do see some real gameplay on youtube, so I'm hoping some setting will fix it
