Do higher tier quests count towards your lower tier progression?
So as it seems to be right now, you need to complete 10 Tier 1 Quests to then get Tier 2 quests. Then 10x Tier 2 quests to tier 3, ETC. my question is this:

If I've only done 9 Tier 1 quests, and my friend shares his Tier 3 quest; will that quest count towards my progression, then allowing me to do Tier 2 quests after? Or do I HAVE to do a tier 1 quest specifically?

No.
And it's always 7 quests. Not 10.

oh, 7 for each tier?
and that sucks. guess that means you kinda gotta wait for people if youre doing quests

If the quest is from another trader it also dont count even if it is t1 each trader with other figure has its own progression.
Individual results may vary.

Example:
I was on tier 4, my friend was on tier 2. He started doing my tier 4 quests via me sharing. After about 5 quests, he went to do is own and all quests from trader was tier 4, skipping the remaining tier 2 and all of tier 3 quests. After a few tier 4 quests he was on tier 5.

does it have to be the same trade? Im like 3rd quest into Tier 2, but I stayed at the same exact trader. if i then go to another trade will i be forced to start over from tier 1? or will the trade it told me to go to bed be at tier 2 but ill had to do 7 more instead of 4?
NO....it doesn't matter which trader you go to. The tier level of quests is saved on your profile and will be the same for your character regardless of which trader you go to. You only need to complete x number of quests to advance to next tier. It don't matter who gives you the quests. Sharing quests with others is another can of worms........it's 'suppose' to count but, everyone's mileage may vary here. I can't confirm / deny one way or the other.....I've only played Solo.

Also, 'IN MY EXPERIENCE' I've advanced to higher level tiers even though I was taking lower tier level quests. However, I did not run a controlled test where I ONLY took lower tier to see at what point I'd advance so, I might be off in my assumption that you only need to complete a certain number of quests...and tier level doesn't matter.

It matters.
If you will level Hugh you wont get same level missions from Jen.
And if you got such a result it's a bug.

So you will only get Tier 1 once u go to the next trader? What if me and my friends started in a small town that has like no Tier 5 buildings? when we get to TIer 5 from this small town's trader is it gonna send us to a different one?

Basically yes.
Trader will give you 5 T5 POIs to choose from.
By the time you will be able to do T5 POIs you will have some serious vehicles.
Im also almost sure they put some kind of protection there - if you will do closest POI like two times, it will be removed from mission list for some time. But I might be totally wrong about it - maybe just strange RNG.

This is just incorrect. I'm getting the same tier of missions from all traders. This is the way it was in alpha 19 and it's how it is now in alpha 20.

You can stil get t5 quest in your starter town but you would be send a long way to next t5 quest building in my case i had luck and trader from starter town also had a "twin/clone" in wasteland biome for t4/5 quest.

Ok, that just seems weird....and definitely must be a change up from A19 to A20 cuz in A19...no matter which trader you went to, they'd offer up to the highest tier quests that your character was able to get regardless of what trader it was you did them with. So, I must need to do some more testing.

My case exactly. This is pregen 8k - desert Rekt. There are 3 T5 in around 500 meters.

Mardoin69 - yes, they changed it. In like Darkness Falls style. I think there was something like that in earlier betas.

aY227 has the right of it. From the Quest heading of the A20 patch notes:

Questing improvements have been made all over the world in 7 Days To Die. Starter quests now have helpful on screen icons to show you where to find the required items. We’ve decided to retire the challenge notes to allow focus on new quest types. Buried Supplies have been updated to increase the challenge. We’ve also added a new tier 3 version of this quest type. Trader to Trader progression has changed. Each trader now has their own set of tiered quests that must be completed. Players can now navigate between those tiers when selecting a quest from the trader.

The oddity is that if a given map spawns the same traders, the quest progression remains. People have reported being sent to a 2nd Rekt or Joel and keeping their progress. The game doesnt discern one from the other.
