You HAVE to do the Tier quests now since TFP dumped the "useful" stuff there, or you just power level to 40+ to starrrrrt getting mildly good stuff - luck is almost non-existant now.
yup wheels and acid are way too rare. I needed either for the motorcycle for days and days and days. Never found either before dying and on death.... I restart.
I had two wheels by about day 5 of my new playthrough. I built a bike from parts instead of getting the free one from the trader (I didn't even know that was a thing in the new version).
P,S. Built a motorcycle and a 4x4 Truck as well. You must be running into realllllly bad RNG
And at Day 21 have a few acid and a couple tires I managed to loot or buy. That's 5 wheels, all I need. 2 for the motorcycle, 3 for the Gyro. Hopefully as my looting and bartering go up I can find the schematics or parts I need and never dump a point into vehicles.
There have been a few rare games where I was able to put together a bike in the first three days, though I considered those pretty lucky starts. Usually it happened when I would find several components or schematics and then I would purposefully work towards the bike.
On my previous save I had like 6 bottles of acid by the 8th day and just 1 wheel.
It's funny how we never find the things we really need, but the things we don't need are a plenty.
I always thought it'd be neat if the game was programmed to monitor your inventory and see which items you are near completed on and reduce the drop rates of those must have items to finish something.
It's once again the 5% chance of critical faillure where people will always complain about it happening too often because they are actively waiting for it to happen.
You can't convince me that the game doesn't already do this. Too many times I have finally broken down, or scraped up enough money, and bought a critical overpriced item at the tradder, only to loot one or find a schematic at my next stop. Not just a few times, many.
