Is this game similar to Minecraft and other survival base building games?
I love base building games and survival games. Especially when there is a ton of stuff to build and craft and was wondering how is is? Is it deep and somewhat complex? And is this the best zombie base builder out there with a few new ones that just came out?

This is definitely what I are looking for

Sounds to me like this game could be perfect for you. I started playing when it pretty much *looked* like MC, and it has just got better and better since then.

The gameplay is rather more complex though, but it is definitely one of my all time favourite games, and I haven't found another survival game to beat it.

The best 'base building' game out there imo is 'Rising World.' But, if you want zombie fighting / tower defense plus building then yes, THIS game IS the best out there imo. I play both but, currently waiting on Rising World to get more 'near completion' since they started an overhaul onto a newer game engine......it's in EA also.

If you're looking to get all creative with building, stick with Minecraft, IMO that game is still the king when it comes to that. While there is quite a number of block shapes, furniture, creative mode where you have unlimited resources, like others have said, the building part is more oriented towards tower defense.

A horde of zombies will come after you every X days, a setting you can set yourself. (Default is 7, hence the name of the game) Unlike normal slow zombies who just wander around and must detect you first, these zombies will know where you are instantly and will sprint at you Left 4 Dead style. The game is about exploring, doing quests, looting resources and weapons etc. in order to prepare and make the best of your time to prepare for those nights.

Actually, the game is called 7 Days To Die because that is how long it takes for the zombie infection to kill you. As I found out to my cost the first time I ever played (approximately 100 years ago, back in A8). Back then the hordes didn't exist and frankly, zeds weren't much of a problem, either IIRC!

Probably shouldn't flat-out lie to someone about the game or its mechanics because that'll give an objectively inaccurate impression for better or worse. Falsely accused SmallArchangel in the above parts. Their quote above doesn't really reflect the current gameplay, but it's not technically inaccurate or anything (particularly in regard to A8 where they were talking about). I totally glossed over that it was a response to a previous post, clarifying the game's name origin...it wasn't meant to describe the current gameplay, just correct the origin of the game's name, but I misinterpreted badly.

Sorry, what?! What exactly am I lying about? I was talking about the game in Alpha 8, and that is where the name came from. I was pretty clear about that.

One main difference between this and minecraft (other than the enemies being more less varied but also of a threat) is that this game has a gravity that effects that you build.

Each type of block has a weight and a limit of what it can support when building out from the side of it. Nothing will just float in the air and things that don't have enough support will fall.
If something is built up from the ground and that ground below it is solid it's fine no matter how high it goes, but you need to keep an eye on things and go slow when building out from that.

Also while there are no enemies that will run off with your building blocks, all of them can damage your blocks. Walls will hold them off, but not forever.

My bad then. I thought early alphas still had a similar horde-mode and thought you were talking more generally about the game (both then and now).
I'll spoiler-hide my previous post.

I started playing this game a few years back and it still catches me day by day... Thought I saw everything with crafting/survival/defense/build games... but then I found this small pearl...

I will never forget my first experience... dying from the zombiedogs who chased me down... i wont forget the scare moments that I was cutting trees and got punched in the back from a zombie which I never heard coming...

But...I found it was really getting me after a week...when I went to work...and which is just 2 kilometers... but I saw sticks everywhere... I saw rocks which I wanted to smash... and I saw goldenrod flowers in a distance which I needed for my tea... I just then realized I had to work in a few minutes which sucks cause I wanted to play more....

4000 hours almost... it still gets me... and if I ever get bored of the base game, i change difficulties, try a great mod like Ravenhears, Undead Legacy, Darkness Falls and start all over...

Gotta go...some fat cop is on it's way to take me down...

BANZAAIIII

Game is a slow burner, but once it gets its hooks in you'll want to keep coming back
Imortalin 11 mai. 2021 às 12:26
Do you guys build your own shelter or use existing buildings and just build off of them?

Hmmm, thats the alpha before I started playing, which was 9. I've never let the infection get that long in my hundreds of hours playing so I wouldn't know. Though I think it goes faster than that now.

I'm guessing that was just a "back story" for the zombie infection, not anything in-game that the player has to deal with.
